How good is Aus in pink ball tests?

Iirc, Aus has a 100% win record in pink ball tests. Many of its players have phenomenal records (from top of the mind recall): 

 

Bowlers

Starc 6 wkts/test 

Cummins 5 wkts/test

Hazlewood and Lyon 4 wkts/test 

 

Batsmen

Warner 100 runs/test

Labuschagne 100+ runs/test (recall a 100 v NZ at Perth)

Smith 80+ runs/test

Pakistan almost pulled off a heist at Gabba of all places & lost by 40 odd runs in a Pink ball test in 2016.  Recently Yasir Shah scored a ton with Pink ball against Aussie attack.  Yes they do have impressive record but by no means unbeatable.  If we win the toss I still believe we can beat them.

Starc and Lyon played all 7 pink ball tests.. starc took 42 and lyon took 28

 

Cummins took 19 in 4 matches while hazlewood took 26 in 6 matches

New zealand also came pretty close to winning the very first pink ball test they played, lost by 3 wickets when siddle, starc and lyon were remaining wickets.

 

But they have come a long way since 2015. They have perfected the art of winning home pink ball tests.. last year they played 3 pink ball matches and won two by innings and the other by 296 runs

If you look at the win margins, they have become progressively more massive.. they have pretty much perfected this format. This is the toughest match Kohli's team has played yet..

They are experienced in that format and we have only played 1.on top of that we don't have Ishant and in his ace we got pretenders and noobs as fast bowlers.

Barnes = 7 wkts/test iirc .... more of a Chandra/Kumble type of bowler who could bowl both swing and spin (v. only swing or spin) iirc (may have watched a video sometime back)

In a blink of an eye, Starc, Hazel and Cummins can have India bowled out for under 150 runs at Adelaide Oval. This bowling trio is phenomenal under lights at Adelaide Oval. Lets not forget Lyon. If India are struggling agianst poor spinners in Australia, what will happen when they face Australia's best spin bowler?????

 

India are 100% losing this test if Australia bat first.

 

If India bat 1st, there is some chance of winning. But it would need India to bat into Day 2, session 2 to be any chance. Thats a long time batting.

Make no doubt about it, there will be a result.

 

The tour game would have given India's batsmen some confidence. It may have been against a poor team, but nevertheless it will give them confidence. Pujara, Rahane, Vihari and Pant got runs in either game of the 2 first class games.

 

In the test match, one batsmen really needs to score a soild century to give India a fighting chance.

The last year's Pink ball test against Pakistan Warner scored a triple ton.  Now he's no longer here.  He is a even bigger miss to Australia than Smith in my view dude kills the game in 1st session itself.  Not to forget Pakistan brought a terrible bowling line up in that game.  Even against us in 2014 he almost put us out of the game in 2014 in Adelaide...  With a quickfire century.  Our bowling attack will test Australia & if we win the toss & score close to 300 we are gonna win.

Yeah warner will be a big miss for australia. But even without him, our bowlers will have to take 3 wickets in first 20 overs (openers+labushane) to stay in the game. If labu doesn't get out early, he has the capacity to support smith for a couple of sessions and that will kill the game. Ishant/Bhuvi would have been very helpful for us in this match

One of the openers is likely gonna be Harris.  Burns may not even play.  So either Labu will open or Wade.  I am more concerned about Cameron  Green. Debutants always hurt us.  Hopefully we come up with a plan against him.  He is set to debut.

Isn't he concussed in practice match? I doubt he will play the first match

Warne said he will be fit.  He wants to open with Wade & Put Green at no 6.

Nothing really to see here. Aussies are generally great at home, doesn't matter which ball they play.

 

Of the teams they beat only SA and to some extent ENG count. Pak & SL play like minnows in Aus anyway and NZ has a huge mental block/mis-match against Aus (like SL has against us).
