Hundreds of factories, restaurants and shops in this area are on the verge of shutdown. Many livelihoods are lost. No wonder locals are angry with these so called protesters.

You missed the point, why is police standing and watching them throw stones?

Not denying the possibility that they are pissed with protesters but Delhi Police (in fact Police all over India) is understaffed, ill equipped and lack concrete and decisive leadership for situations like these. Shaheen Bagh then Markaz fiasco showed that. They can barely save themselves at best.

@Khota   Subsidised farming ( oil electricity seeds fertilizer water) and giving direct benefit to farmers ( say some money into accoun) is perfect thing to do.

But MSP guarantee is different thing. Poor farmers don’t sell a lot of their produce. ( Most poor ones sell few quintals each season) While its Rich farmers who are the ones who loose out with MSP gone as they are only real beneficiaries.

PS: Hope now you get the government angle. And why most people think government is right.

I understand government cannot sustain it but poor farmers (super majority) sell it well below MSP. They have nothin to negotiate. These subsidy are passed on to the consumers also.

If the debt to income ratio for poor farmers is 2:1 where is the fairness in the system.

After working 60 hrs a week in the fields all they make is 10,000 pm where is the fairness in the system.

Sure, keep buying millions of tons of grain to rot, so that farmers can keep buying their luxury cars.  Rrrright.

There are other ways to assist farmers, MSP disproportionally benefits a small slice of elites who game the system, and they are in alliance with political opposition because money is at stake.  Even Punjab state government rakes in 'taxes' from MSP sales to the central government.  There are other ways to help genuine farmers.  Most of these protesting "farmers" anyway hire biharis to do the actual work.  They are modern day Zamindars role-playing as "Kissaaan" so that their gravy train doesn't stop.

10,000 rs per month and luxury cars. There is a disconnect here.

Is there any proof they were unhappy before few days? I haven't seen any interview of local people losing jobs or business due to the strike? Maybe i am missing something.

You see nothing wrong with it? Roads aren’t someone private property.

Right.that is why you can't block them for 2 months. Shaheen bagh protest blocked just an inner road, caused tremendous trouble for Delhiietes....these protestors are blocking a national highway.

So anyone who speaks out against "peaceful" protestors is a BJP agent/goon, incapable to act on their own accord. Every Indian citizen has the right to file his/her grievance over anti national elements in their locality, regardless of their political affiliation.

From my knowledge, it was more than daily inconvenience that triggered the locals. None the less you can't condone the fact that locals took the matter into their own hands instead of informing the authorities.

What should they do? Protest in farms so no one gives a damn?

As per my local sources, it was certain songs played over the loudspeaker that ticked off locals over the edge.

What Song?

TIMES NOW Special Broadcast.

'We don't have any political agenda', say locals who claim to be residents of areas surrounding the borders. They did hold protests against farmers, clashes reported in several areas.
