Umpire's call related to lbws is not an issue at all. The soft signal has to go. I'm with Lloyd on this one.

Because there will be situations where there is doubt. This is not like runouts or stumpings where there are given cameras placed to give an answer. Even there sometimes benefit is given.

You are still not getting the point.

 

It is not about the error rates. You simply cannot have two different outcomes for the same event. Make all LBWs to be ruled by third umpire.

But again H/E themselves says the same prediction can have two different outcomes as the error rate is both plus and minus. 

 

So you are saying balls which would be missing should be given out, because an animation showed them hitting the stumps?

Then let 3rd umpire decide who gets benefit of doubt.

If there are no soft signals then 

 

 

1) all such catches will 99% be not out with benefit going to batsman 

 

2) host countirs will be accused of manipulating camera footage (when host is fielding you get great footage of catches, when they are batting suddenly unclear camera angles are there, meaning they will always be not out)

But how does this eliminate bias?

 

it’s extremely improbable for the umpire to determine that a catch was taken cleanly near the boundary from where he is, unless it is very obvious either way. They are probably going to take the fielders word and signal it out.

 

The host country can still provide bad angles when they are fielding so the tv umpire cannot conclusively go against the soft signal. They can try and provide great angles when the opposition fields.

You don't know whether ball will be missing. If technology shows hitting 50% of the stumps than it's out anyway. Issue is with marginal decision where umpire's call come into play. Let all those decisions remain not out.

If they are not sure, then let it stay not out. Players will understand that and get on with things. The problem is umpire's call you are not getting that point.

 Giving that benefit of doubt to the umpire is the issue and you somehow are not able to understand that point.
