Umran is figuring out which length to bowl to international batsmen, learning curve for him

Needs to learn fast

Steyn or Williamson or Moody should tell  Umran not to bowl full unless it's an attempted yorker and not to bowl too many short balls.

I had my doubts whether Umran is fastest pacer in IPl but right now he is comfortably ahead of everyone including Nortje & Ferguson.  Runs are mostly flying through the edges which I don't mind.  He bowled a few good yorkers so it seems he is learning but afraid if he looses control.  He has the ingredients & can be ready in a year or so if he's focused.

Since Umran is not bowling at the death ... if he can use the good length off stump to 5th stump ball as his stock ball ... and use the yorkers and bouncers when he is in control, then he can be a really good bowler.

Both his wickets in the first game were from good length balls around off stump

Positive is umrans pace and some good length balls.

Issue is he needs more bounce of his standard length balls. hope he works on it.

Bounce for him won't be too high as he is a short bowler around 5'9 with round arm action.

How come bumrah and shami get bounce. Steyn? Back of good length balls rise up. How? He can improve.

Agree his natural level of bounce won't be high due to his height but if hits the deck hard consistently whilst sacrificing some pace for bounce he can achieve it consistently.

He is knee dominant bowler (and round arm),his release point is low compared to hip dominants of same height take consider that,so his bounce will not remain high

Plus he's not that tall

Wagner is knee dominant too no? He is only 5 10. Yet he generates good bounce.

Umran can achieve that too if he hits the deck hard but he will have to sacrifice pace. I think this boy loves pace too much so let's see anyway. Hopefully God forbid no injuries. Maybe he can learn from booms and shami later in internationals.
