express bowling Posted April 9, 2022 Author Posted April 9, 2022 Siraj bowled his first over at 137 k to 142 k mostly. Moved the ball away from the left hander. Generally bowled in good areas except 1 ball on the pads. Mosher 1
express bowling Posted April 9, 2022 Author Posted April 9, 2022 The only way for Umran to generate bounce off length balls is to bowl on the shorter side of good length. Like he did in his 1st over to Rayudu. Otherwise, with his short height and round-arm action, he will keep finding the sweet spot of the bat. Mosher, Jay and Forward Defence 1 2

Shorter your length off good ball length is your best bet. Advantage of being taller is he can pitch it up slightly fuller and still get good lift. Lesser margin for error. However Shorter ones can be more skiddy and rush batsmen if they pitch it fuller ofcourse for yorkers etc. Also Shorter ones should try and get good seam position like shami. Not necessary but it helps. Taller bowlers don't need to master this as much.

Don't care if be gets hit. All I care about is finding new gems for test cricket. A good test cricket bowler can be good in any format. Can't say the same about a good LOI bowler excelling in tests.

Zip and bounce off the deck is the most difficult thing for batsmen to tackle or hit. ( unless one can bowl quick and accurate yorkers like Bumrah ) Mosher 1
Forward Defence Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Harshal should get a go here. He might get his variations to work express bowling 1

( unless one can bowl quick and accurate yorkers like Bumrah ) Its easier to bowl short bouncers for longer periods than break your backs trying to aim for yorkers. So yes bounce should be priority. Besides with bounce you can intimidate batsmen. That is key. You must be able to remind batsmen that you can break their arm, rib cage, hit their throat or fingers etc. That usually leads to a wicket when you threaten batsmen with real intent to hurt them. Yes I know it's not very sportive but hey cricket has always been a blood sport. It's a tough sport. Batsmen have protective gearing now. So bowlers have ever right to target th if they csnt prise their wicket otherwise.

Agree his natural level of bounce won't be high due to his height but if hits the deck hard consistently whilst sacrificing some pace for bounce he can achieve it consistently. High arm bowlers Jay 1
