Umesh Ishant and Shami should have been one of the greatest top3 test bowling line ups of all time but it’s a good problem to have with the emergence of Bumrah. Now I think he is getting a reality check so time for Bumrah to play country cricket. Not Ranji though.

 

Even though Bhuvi was great in a couple of overseas conditions we have wasted investing in him. It’s like investing 100$ in something and getting $1 return after 20 years. Useless

Have you seen yadavs bowling average in NZ  and Aus? 

 

Bhuvi averages 27 overall, averages 26 in england to yadavs 25, averages 20 in SA, 9 in west indies,  26 at home.  so taking a pot shot at him is the stupidiest thing ever. Only one series he ever did bad in tests was australai tour where he bowled in only 1 match with injury 

 

Couple of series indeed, bhuvi has excelled in EVERY SINGLE series he has bowled in. Bhuvi could have been our Asif, indian management never gave hin enough chances in tests

More than that they weirdly decided to shoehorn him as a white ball specialist. I have always considered him a red ball bowling all rounder the minute i saw him. We did not give him a chance in Saf and the England tour in 2018 was a missed opportunity as well. Somewhere in the middle he became a pace bowler rather than a swing bowler before wisely going back to what he does best.

He did play 2/3 tests in SA. On England tour 2018, he got injured in LOIs before tests. Actually, he was carrying injury from IPL. And he has never been fit for a period in last 3 years.

Also, Bhuvi has played 21 tests, while umesh has 49. To say that india invested in bhuvi over Umesh is simply incorrect

Bhuvi was the closest we got to having someone like Woakes. Should have been protected and used intelligently by the team management and BCCI. instead his injury was mismanaged at NCA. Bhuvi should be earmarked for SA, NZ and Eng tours and workload managed accordingly. But our TM is far too short-sighted. In this tour of England, we have plenty of seam bowlers and not one swing bowler. Imagine a fit Bhuvi bowling and then coming out to bat at 8 or 9. 

 

Shami and Umesh are not consistent enough. Hence the high economy rate. It is their own fault and not anyone else. No 'great' test bowler has that high Eco rate and dish out so many loose deliveries. Even after so many years of experience, they haven't gotten better on that aspect like an Anderson. Even on days that Anderson doesn't get wickets, he maintains a great line and length and doesn't go for more than 2.5 rpo.

Absolutely. People forget that his benchmark was Dhoni, who will play Spinners and trundlers and was generally not that interested in test matches. He was a great LOI captain but he was not a good benchmark for a captain in test matches especially in SENA.

That was an example of gross mismanagement for that series. He has never been fit enough to play test cricket since that period imo. If I'm not wrong hr has stopped playing much first class cricket too.
