You need 4 seamers. 3 seamers aren't enough because you need more overs from fast bowlers so better divide them into 4 then 3.

Except when you selected thakur, he is alreqdy jadejas replacement and can contribute the same with the bat

 

This jadeja for his batting made sense when we had 4 pure bowlers, bumrah, shami, ishant and siraj with jadeja

 

As soon as thakur came in, he can provide same batting as jadeja. So ashwin could have replaced jadeja and we would still have 4 pure bowlers and an all rounder, just like match 2 and 3

ashwin will not even get a chance to play a single test under rat. and once we return to Ind and play tests there, I bet Axar and Jaddu will be preferred over him for their "batting". looks like he won't be playing for Ind for a while now.

in theory yes,but for that you need 4th seamer to be reliable to atleast bowl dry if things not happening.

 

Else its better to go with attacking spinner who can bowl dry if needed.

no.With our batting we can't have Ashwin/Thakur at 7.They are bowling AR who bat at 8

 

In Aus we had Jadeja/Sundar at 7 and Ashwin/Thakur at 8.Thats ideal balance and it worked. no. 7 should be bat or batting AR

 

Ofcourse Ash+4 pacers will bolster the bowling but its already strong enough.We need runs for our 4 best bowler(for me that includes Ashwin)
