Varun. C should be used in death overs in some games during Wc.

Actually KKR is already doing it with Varun n Narine and its a very good ploy

Reasons

  • Mystery spinners are at their best when batsman has to hit every ball for a big shot and death is that time. If you start milking them they are not that big problem which is why narine never succeeded in ODI even when he was chucking
  • Bumrah at other end is also not easy to pick so it ll be a good combo
  • Batsman dnt read bowlers from hand these days and in death they are looking to hit every ball, so against Varun risk doubles
  • Teams around the world arent used to it , i think very very few have done it may be sunil narine (i knw he has won a super over)
  • Most of the hitters like pace in death- if anything they dnt like is lack of pace or pace at 145K at hard length( we dont have anyone doing it)

How to use- need to study batsman who dnt pick Varun. C , mystery bowlers or read bowlers from the hand. (dnt do it every game)

This t20 Wc we need to do few things out of the box , this has to be one of them. Will share few more in coming days

I think mystery bowlers work best in the middle overs where the batsmen are in two minds whether to knock around or play shots.

The way I see it, his impact will be vastly reduced if we bowl him at the death.

he anyways will bowl in middle to complete his quota but death is where he ll get dangerous

two minds will be an easy choice to see him off but in death their is no choice u hve to attack him. Its difficult to attack coz ull hve read every ball, u cant pre meditate as every ball of his will be so different

i agree but he ll be more potent in death overs when we are batting second. Invariably there  will be dew if india bowls second. Then it might be a lottery as he can get tonked..he is not very good against left handers.. for me

it should Be one in powerplay two in middle 12/13/14 and one maybe 18

Need to see a bit more of him at international level to guage his utility.

For now, I think it's best to give him 4 overs from 8-16 as he can pretty much shoot down the opponent there itself. We must use him as an attacking option. Keeping a bowler like him back for death is an extremely defensive approach.

how ??

In middle overs batsman can choose to attack or defend

In death they have to attack him (thats what is in mystery spinner favour)

death is all bout u miss i hit n u need bowler who batsman can loose wkts to while attacking or are unplayable kinds

In the group, Ind plays mostly Asian teams apart from NZ and an associate.

Unless conditions favor spin (ICC may use relatively fresh pitches as selected pitches could be being regularly used in IPL), spinners could get tonked. All a team needs is a big 20+ runs over to gain/regain momentum at that stage.

In T20s, I am not a fan of spinners bowling in the first 2-3 overs and the last 2-3 overs. Varun C has to be at the top of his game to be bowling at those stages.

My fail proof plan to build a lucrative cricket career for you, me, anyone.

1.  Declare myself a ‘mystery bowler’.

2.  Reinforce the proposition that every time I bowl it actually lessens the ‘mystery’ because everyone gets to see my tricks.

3.  Lead all experts to the only possible conclusion that you and the team are at peak efficiency when you do not bowl at all.

4. Profit.
