Majestic Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Aiden Markram - Age 27 Babar Azam - Age 27 Marnus Labuschagne - Age 27 KL Rahul - Age 29 Discuss!
vvvslaxman Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 KL Rahul, Markram have underachieved. Marnus is the one who made full use of his form. Babar is still a soft run maker atleast so far. He can turn it around. He has the technique to back it up. He has issues against spinners and bouncers too. But otherwise he handles swing reasonably better.

Markram has issues with spin. He has gotten better, but he will still be gobbled up by Ashwin, etc. I would not say he has underachieved: avg of nearly 40 as opener these days is no joke. He should have played more LOIs by now; kinda weird it has not happened. KLR: also has technical issues and temperament issues. this guy has underachieved in Tests, but is a gun LOI player (with a tendency to choke). Babar: has done well in LOIs, not much more to ask of him. In tests, he needs to score big runs overseas and not just attractive 50s. he is very good in home tests though. Labu: Beast in Tests, with few weaknesses, although the major caveat is that he is not tested in Asia. Labu is mostly a non-entity in LOIs. Markram and Labu also add extra value by their bowling, and KLR by keeping in LOIs.
cricketfan28 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Babar for me , he is very disciplined and not a mental midget.
Adamant Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Ranking on basis of achievements : 1.Babar 2.Labuschagne 3.Markram 4.Rahul Ranking on basis of talent / potential : 1.Babar 2.Rahul 3.Markram 4.Labuschagne. Babar is a prodigy, haven't seen anyone play proper fast bowlers on difficult tracks as easily as this guy does and that too at such a young age. New guy and Banton 2
Prabhdeep Singh Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 In the future, I think the following players will be future players to watch out for based on talent/potential/first class record/stroke making ability: Shubman Gill (age 22) Jaanaman Malan (age 25) Prithwi Shaw (age 22)

But so far up and down performance. He has to pull up his socks and prove why he was rated so high at a very young age.

Babar has a very good SENA avg (in SENA) of around 39. he should try to push it to 45 if he can. Edited December 24, 2021 by Vijy
