ShoonyaSifar Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Based n recent form (last couple of years) Rohit (NZ and SA away could have dented his record but then he also missed out vs NZ in India) Elgar Karunaratne (has scored most runs vs BD and WI) Latham Rahul Warner Mayank Majestic 1

Yes, statistically Eng & SA are the hardest places to open especially in the last decade or so! RGS only ahead because he did so well in Eng & on flat tracks in Oz, though against full strength bowling attack. KL could overtake him if he performs admirably here. Majestic and Vijy 2
putrevus Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Dean Elgar would be number one.Captaincy will only increase his stature. Latham and Rohit would be second along with Warner. Warner might be the best opener in this generation along with Cook. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk that may be true, but there's a big gap between him and Cook in my opinion. Warner has avgs of 26 in Eng (Broad ka bunny), 24 in Ind (and he didn't even play Axar), 13 in NZ (low sample size; but I expect Southee to do well on green pitches), 27 in SL (if he played against Herath/Murali, he would be in big trouble), and 27 in WI (didn't even have to play Roach-Gabriel-Holder at their peak). Many of current openers are HTBs: Warner, Elgar, Rohit, etc. Credit to some of them that they are improving overseas like Rohit.
