First class Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 You missed another one , he also played for my local club in Lahore P&T cricket club . He was very good , always dreaming of playing for Pakistan but Danish Kaneria was the preferred leggie in Pakistan team and Tahir had no chance , although he and many others thought Tahir was better than Kaneria. Once I was playing club cricket in NJ and during the beak was chatting with an ex-Indian test player Sanjeeve Sharma who was playing from opposing team . He had played league cricket in England for many years , he said the same thing. As per him , Pakistanis were crazy to prefer Kaneria over Tahir. Sharma had played against both Kaneria and Tahir and according to him, Kaneria was no match to Tahir. In the same conversation Sanjeeve mentioned , had Kiran More not dropped Grahan Gooch on his bowling early in the inning in Lord test , his ( Sanjeev's ) test cricket career would have been much longer. Kiran Moore dropped Gooch of Sanjeeve Sharma early in the inning and he went on to make triple century. Vijy, Iconoclast, I6MTW and 6 others 9

That's a cool story man, thanks for sharing I have to admit never even hearing of Sanjeev Sharma..or maybe I had and forgot about him. Just goes to show how small unlucky incidents like that can define a person's life!

I saw sanjeev sharma play that gooch test. he was better than several of the "pacers" that we had then. however, I would still not rate him that highly based on the little I saw, even accounting for that dropped catch, etc. but as an AR package, he could have played more tests Edited January 30, 2022 by Vijy
