Instead we have had to watch turds like Vijay Shankar and Shivam Dube favoured instead while Uthappa's best years were wasted - never got a long rope to prove himself. 

 

A real shame as with his talents he deserved a better international career. @skindia

He came at a period when Indian t20 batting was world class and fit right in. Wish he played more during that time.

I still remember a commentrator saying during an IPL match, "When someone hits the ball, it stays hit.. that someone is Robin Uthappa"

Tremendous ability and great IPL career. Could have been a more valuable T20I player had he played in any other era. But he has his moments of glory that he should be proud of.

Glad he could have one last hurrah with an IPL win last year. He went from sitting on the bench all the time and baking cookies for the team to playing blazing innings that won games for his team. Despite his shortcomings, he was a courageous player who looked to attack always.
