India has limited number of six hitters in those position.  And also strike rates. No Indian features even in top 50 when it comes to number of sixes in that position. Chris Jordan has 17 sixes. Thakur, Sundar, Chahar are decent in terms of strike rate.  Hasrhal is okay, Ashwin is reliable. But little slow. Guys like Bumrah, Chahal, Bhuvi are very poor.

Ireland not included.  Only afghanistan/BD included.

Among these guys Chahar followed by Thakur are great against pace. There was this match where Deepak chahar went bonkers against Adam Milne in 20th over.  He creamed one of his short ball for six plus a flat batted four down the ground picking 19 runs of him.

The decline of Bhuvi in batting has affected Indian team lower order a lot..The initial promise he shown or whatever media told..would have given extra edge to India..

As far as Bumrah is concerned he seems to be a work in progress..atleast he hit good short ball sizes in England so potential seems to be there..

I dont have any hopes from Chahal..

In the T20 wcup..we will be having Bumrah,Arshdeep,Bhuvi and Chahal as last 4..I wont blame batsmen..if we are always 15-20 runs short..

Ask the English team..can you keep playing agressive if you dont have batting after 7..they have Adil Rashid at number 10(may be 11 sometimes) who has 10 FC hundreds lol

Bumrah has clearly improved his batting. In a scenario where we have Bhuvi/Arshdeep/Chahal/Bumrah play, Bumrah must bat at no.8.  Siraj is another who looked clueless when he started, has made some small improvements. Prasidh is still the same. Atleast Shami does some batting practice at home :)

Problem us both have issues vs leg spin lol.

Bumrah actually is a very strong guy. He is super fit. He has power despite a thin frame. But what he lacks is timing.

This guy has brains..and good discipline\work ethics..if he is set on improving batting..he will get it done..only issue is keeping away from ijnjury

^ Srilanka clearly showed how lower order batting can completely turn the game around in the Asia cup final and also in their do or die game against BD/Afghanistan.

Th elower order batting of other teams..has always given us issues esp in Tests..many times..the difference in lower order batting on the two sides..created all teh difference overseas..ofc that directly rekates to bowling too..but thats not this thread is about lol

Ironically he is the only one guy who can afford to be a one-dimensional cricketer.  Pat cummins we all know how he can bat.  Shaheen can bat a bit. Archer can hit long ball. Odean Smith can be destructive. Jordan is another guy. You don't have to be consistent. When you get an absolute rubbish ball you should be good enough to hit it for six. I don't think we have such tailenders now.

That's true. But some people you shouldn't underestimate them based on size. He may be thin but he has the wiry strength.

Here is an encouraging sign of Bishnoi practicing hitting. Thinner than Chahal. But he works hard.

Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Rahul Chahar, Mayank Markande all can bat (or atleast rotate the strike).Even in the past, Murli Kartik, Amit Mishra all had ability to strike and make some useful runs just like Ashwin, Bhajji, Kumble, Axar etc.

Had Kuldeep Yadav not fallen of the radar he would have been a great replacement for Chahal. He had ability to hang around and with a bit of practice he could have become a decent hitter down the order.

He is a strong guy mentally as well as physically..with such a small run up he is able to generate that pace and bounce

It got me thinking how deep we used to bat in loi from 2007 to 2013.

Bowlers could bar too.

Also the bowling attack for fast bowling is better than anything parkies have fielded since 2003 rofl.

Sreesanth

Rp singh

Zak

Actually it's way better than parkielowdas attack since 2003. All could clock 140 plus too. Maybe not zak. Prime rp was fast.

Lol at these parki lowdas calling him a trundler hahahha. Yes after injuries he became a trundler but in his prime he was fast medium and swung the ball too.
