Great video,

When Smita Prakash said Hindus survived by being peaceful I face-palmed so hard :hysterical:

I think what she meant was the popular perception was so, and I assume that's not her actual opinion. I believe she teased the information out of Sai to reveal more. Classic interview.

Lasting peace brings inertia. Unfortunately, there was little to no incentive to modernize the armies or figure out trends outside the subcontinent due to this. Due to the Himalayas and the Hindu Kush the monarchs of then were pretty content to live in their domains.

To be honest, India was the land of the plenty and bountiful. Arabs, Turks, Afhgans and Europeans lived in misery. Also the last great king to attempt to conquer India before the Islamic invasions started was Alexander and Saka invasions.

Kushans as well... They came from Steppes or Kazakhstan.  Huns technically came from same place or according to some sources Mongolia and practically ended Gupta Empire.

Modern day Gurjars in Haryana Punjab Rajasthan are said to be the direct descendants of these people... Origin of Rajputs is also linked from Sakas and Huns.

Mihirkula was cruelest of the lot and terrorized entire North India.. and during one of his inavsions has said to have destroyed entire Patliputra the capital of Guptas to a mere Village condition.  Slayed countless Buddhists but only redeeming quality was he built lot of shiv temples in Kashmir otherwise Perhaps most devastating invader prior to obviously Timur.
