Skill level of Indian batters is tge problem....  Sheer lack of talent & skill.  The gap is insane.

English players much more talented clearly.  Even Aussies.

Confidence level is also very high. They always have a deep batting line up. Even Robinson scores quickly. In Pakistan Wood made some useful contribution.  India has just one bastman of that calibre Pant.  Jaddu can lend support. That's it.

Absolutely. Most ICF-ers just don't get this.

This pitch doesn't suit him.  Also they love a bit more bounce due to their height. Also then DUke vs Kookaburra. Without extra bounce they look pedestrian. All the more reason scoring less than 300 against this attack was a cardinal sin.

Ipl

No pant and bumrah and some young gens Not playing is the reason.

England has passion for the game unlike India.

What's the point in putting Pujara, Ashwin, Rahane, Rohit and Kohli. They lost their passion long ago.

Reminds me of Yuvraj in his peak. He had an air of confidence on him that was unmatched.

But idiot fans on this board will still laud Sachin and Kohli as greats when they never had that swagger and confidence that Yuvraj had.

Some are destined to be winners like Yuvraj, Stokes etc. who play their heart out even with lack of sheer talent while some are always going to be stat padders who will never reach glory.

I will take hundreds of Yuvraj, Gambhir, Rainas than stat padding idiots like Sachin, Rohit, Kohli who never won anything significant in their life.

It's a team game that became a hero worship enterprise in India.

Well said.

Reverse sweep has been one of the major mode of dismissal for England in recent times. Unbelievable. How times have changed. 15 years back they wre one of the most conservative side

Correct. They were very defensive. Guys like Bairstow included. HE got owned multiple time stuck at crease

Batting of England entire match is absolutely reckless. Still they are with a chance to win the Test. I say 65% Australia 35% England. If it is 250 or above it becomes 50/50. 300 I will give 80 England

Absolutely the more you watch these guys play you realise our players don't have the kind of control,  strokes,  temperament &, neither mental strength to go toe to toe against these players.

Hence failures in Big games & ICC tourneys.

The gap is increasing at test level.

Their younger players are more ready & skilled as well.

They have caught up or surpassed Indian batting factory production.  The more upgraded version.

The mindset of Indian fans is designed to support stats padders so Kapil -> Sachin -> Kohli, along with Rohit, Indian spinners, etc - "The more I use the team as my personal property, the more fans I will have".

From a holistic PoV, cricket is a sport where the West & East come face to face relatively more, therefore cricket is subjected to a lot of desi logic, where other teams are judged using some irrelevant factors.

England pitches got easier to chase when we toured. Same in SA. It doesn't look like the pitch is deteriorating.

As i said English attack is one of the most non-threatening attack on flat decks on paper. They completely rely on strategies. They don't mind losing wickets to reckless shots

It's not talent or skill.

Pant is not as talented as Kohli or Rohit Sharma or even skilled.

It's the true grit, fearlessness and confidence that separates him.

Even Steve Smith - he is not as talented or skilled compared to even Pujara or Rahane/Kohli.

But he will dominate through grit and confidence.

You need players who are hustlers in your team. People were saying Stokes is a bits and pieces player useless for test cricket but England made him captain for precisely the reason that he will figure out a way to win even if it seems impossible as he's fearless.

You need players like that in your team. But we have hero worship even on this board where Rohit, Kohli, Sachin fanboys forget that they never won anything substantial in their life. While Yuvraj, Gambhir, Raina have won world cups against superior teams than what we have today.

The sad thing is this post will go beyond the ears of the fanboys and that's the issue with Indian cricket.

Imagine how Bumrah must have felt when he was toiling for days in lifeless tracks when KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Kohli were getting all the fame, money and adulation.

Pathetic fans never understood the importance of Bumrah - he was not protected like we protect even Shubman Gill or Pandya.

Rohit is clearly overage...  At his prime he had quicker reflexes &,  hence faster weight transfer &,  arm speed.  He always had the shots.

Lol at Kohli...  Biggest strokeless wonder.  Guy can't play square cut,  backfoot punch,  upper cut,  sweep,  lap,  reverse or anything.

Pant is clearly more skilled than these guys.  But he needs to be more fit to optimize his full potential especially in LOI cricket.  He has 10x the range than Kohli.

Even Shreyas Iyer has more strokes than Kohli.

Gill has that range too but he needs to find that balance...  He can be a Joe Root level player if he sorts things out a little bit.
