what looks like the bare minimum gold now realistically ?

Is total tally likely to be 100 + ?

Minimum 20, max 26 I guess...

25 gold will be more gettable than 100 total, both within reach.. let's see.

Dissapointed that none of the star players - Pragg, Gukesh won the gold in men's chess individual rapid.  I thought that was in the bag, but we could not win anything there.

Hoping they can win the team event - both Iran, China Uzbekistan are all a threat.

They didn't participate in the individuals. They are only in the team event. Gukesh lost to an Iranian yesterday.

You are right, I wonder why ??  We would have swept gold and silver.

Both Arjun and Vidit dissapointed big time.

Archers win gold in mixed event :aha:

Good that the overrated Deepika Kumari did not qualify this time.

She is a recurve archer - not compound. She hasn't participated in a while since she got married to Atanu Das who lost yesterday in the QF

Anyway, good that she is not in the squad. Big time choker. Was number 1 two times before Olympics and choked both times. Also tried to play politics by insisting she team up only with her husband.

Team selection was done well in advance and Vidit, Arjun were higher rated in rapid then I guess. Or maybe they wanted to accomodate more players.

On current form, Pragg and Gukesh should have played in the individual event.
