Indian death bowling options

I have exclude Mukesh here. He certainly is not a long term option. One can clearly see even from management perspective. Among the remaining we tried recently this is what we have. Boom is the most effective. Everyone else is average. Bhuvi also fails to take enough wickets. India has to explore options like Kartik Tyagi.

There are some spinners who do well too.

 

Guys like Rashid Khan 7.2,  Zampa, Theekshana go under 8 in death overs.

Assuming the data is for last 4 overs, extras by Bbuvi are on v.higher side being an experience bowler and so much talked about his control.

 

Arshdeep is picking 1 wkt/match in last 4 overs is good but I donot think he is a longterm option and was picked on just 1 decent IPL season and a weird stat that IPL broadcasters picks up each season, most yorkers, most six in last 2 overs, most dots in someover

yes Wide yorkers can often times go wrong in death overs. Shami is one guy who rarely gives away extra. But he bowls predictable length balls that can easily be targeted.

Bishnoi 8.00  in 4 innings 2 wickets 4 extras

Jadeja 8.97 in 16 innings 7 wickets 13 extras

Axar patel 8.51 in 8 innings 2 wickets 4 extras

Kuldeep yadav 12.83 in 6 innings 2 wickets 1 extra

Chahal 10.34 in 13 innings 7 wickets 3 extras

Ashwin 8.80 in 18 innings 13 wickets 14 extras

 

Sundar has played just 1 innings where he conceded 5 runs in 1 over. Not enough samples

Same bowlers performance in power play. Bumrah is top bowler. Bhuvi is known for this. So no surprise there. Arshdeep's extras have put a serious dent in his ER.  Siraj is also top bowler. He keeps getting better.

Natrajan ER in death overs 9.00  & in power play 5.50. He probably won't ever play again.

Chahal 8.48 ER 34 innings 9 extras 13 wickets - 43 overs

 

 

It is staggering Jadeja has bowled only 10 overs in power play.

Kartik Tyagi  has good death bowling skills and bowls excellent yorkers and wide yorkers. 

 

Plus he can be a good mid-over enforcer.

 

Plus can swing the new ball too.

 

Plus he is 6'3" and can bowl 145 k+.

 

Only in.India can such a bowler be ignored.

Kartik Tyagi has good death bowling skills. He is a complete bowler like Bumrah.

Kuldeep Sen also has good ability to bowl Yorkers, he is also very close to being called as a complete bowler.

 

Harshit Rana, Hangargekar can bowl Yorkers..but they're not very consistent and are mostly depend on their back of length deliveries. 

Same goes for Umran and Prasidh as well

He's been forever injured. Even his IPL team doesnt play him regularly.

Tyagi sits out as SRH wants to play 1 quick and the rest trundlers ... and Umran is the preferred quick.

 

Tyagi was injured during the first 1/3rd of IPL 2022 but he played both VHT and SMAT this time.

There have been a couple of matches when Tyagi and Umran have played together. 

 

But they prefer playing Bhuvi and Nattu together.

Even there I think Tyagi has higher ceiling than Umran. Tyagi should replace Bhuvi next year

Problem is SRH Homeground, Hyderabad stadium is traditionally a slow and low bounce track. The pitch is laid in a manner to support the slow bowlers and spinners..SRH always had a strength in bowling with likes of Rashid, Bhuvi, Sandeep, Sid Kaul operating their knuckle deliveries on the pitch.

 

Umran hit a home run in last years IPL when matches were played in Mumbai, which has more life. Tyagi was unfortunate to injure himself. This season he was out of rhythm and out of luck.

 

I really hope he is released from SRH and someone like MI, GT or KXIP gives him an opportunity.

bad pitches, out of rhythm, bad management,etc all contributed.
