lol he scored 27 off 28 last year in semis. This is just due to conditions.

Well the others are playing in the same conditions. Which other opener has been this effective?

De Kock, Warner, even Fakhar when he played. Rohit has played like what Sehwag did in 2011 but no one remembers that much and for right reasons.

sehwag didn't do anything in 2011 apart from 100 against Bangladesh. Rohit has secured the teams good starts and taken all the risks to ensure that team gets ahead. On am average he has secured 50 plus against top team at SR of 130. Not sure if Sehwag or anyone from this tournament has done this.

Sehwag gave starts against everyone including semis

Sehwag scored at 47 @ 123 SR

Rohit 55 @ 125

Similar SR despite 12 year difference.

He has played better than Sehwag ever did, Rohit is far better player in whiteball cricket than Sehwag ever was at any time in his career.

Rohit has given great starts to the team but others also have used those great starts to either win the matches  while batting second or score massive totals batting first.

Rohit has scored 550 but iyer has scored nearly 530 and Rahul 350 plus.

People keep pointing about his SR. He is starting from when scoreboard is 0 wickets down.

If he falls early others have to come in and built the innings so their SR will be lower.

Exactly Rohit has given great starts but others have used those starts effectively. You also pointed out SR issue :nice:

I'm as happy as anyone by Rohit starts but this whole thread is to undermine Kohli who's been the actual difference. Rohit has been a fantastic support player though.

if Rohit gets out early, it will be forgiven due to the approach but others dont have that luxury.

I'm huge Viru fan but yes he's no where near Rohit in LOIs.

When you are 80 years old, wrapped in a blanket and comfy in your rocking chair by an open fire, surrounded by your great-grandchildren; you can tell the spellbound youngsters about the time you saw Lord Rohit Sharma equal, then beat Sachin's ODI double hundred record with effortless stroke-play against the dominant soon to be again world champion Australian team including a record 16 sixes.

The fire crackles as the children gasp in awe. Rain begins to fall outside the window as your tale comes to an end, but the youngsters are still thirsty for more. 'Tell us about the 264 he scored against Lanka again Grandpapa' one child begs. 'No, no! The legendary hat trick against Mumbai Indians!' implores another. The oldest boy pipes up. 'Be quiet you two, Grandad tells those ones all the time. Go on, tell us the one you promised us last time - the 177 vs West Indies...Grandad..G-Grandad?'

The rocking chair creaks to a halt. A serene expression is on your face and all of Rohit's hundreds flash before your eyes in your final moments as the children embrace you. His one World Cup hundred in the deadly quarter final against Bangladesh, the 150 in Kanpur. That cut shot against Steyn. They know what is happening. They are scared, but calm.

The last thing you hear as you slide into the black warmth of death is the youngest boy - old beyond his years, and a cricket fanatic who spends every free moment outside hitting a battered leather ball against the wall. 'Don't be sad. He lived a hell of a life. In the age of Rohit.'
