I saw him more as a batter who could bowl, but if he improves a bit further, he can become a proper batting AR

Musheer should concentrate on his batting - trying to become an allrounder has ruined many a player. In fact people like Kohli and Smith succeeded as batsmen was because they stopped bowling.

trying to be just a batsman has also ruined many, like iyer ,shaw or renshaw .In the past viv ,sachin, kallis ,waugh all used to bowl.

Don't know about Renshaw but Iyer and Shaw need to also focus on batting. Their batting is not good enough to be in the team never mind their bowling.

Iyer and Shaw are not even established - so the question of "ruin" is far away.

I am not saying that he should reduce emphasis on batting. the fact is that he came through all levels as a batting AR. people like kallis were successful as batting ARs, even Brian McMillan in tests.

All I was saying is that he should keep bowling regularly and honing his ability as a secondary skill. he can continue as a batting AR even in senior cricket.

karun nair despite being faded still demonstrated his ability to play spin on day 4. and wadkar showed why he is one of the best domestic batter-keepers: solid player, who may not be int'l level, but is needed to keep ranjis, FCs, at high standard.

big plus on day 4 was musheer getting to show off his bowling skills in an extended spell. I saw him more as a batter who could bowl, but if he improves a bit further, he can become a proper batting AR

Interesting re: Wadkar  , why not international level? I have often wondered why he isn't in the A team at least..  consistently scores important runs, but don't know if his keeping is. It was surely unfair that Kushagra got into the A team ahead of Wadkar

Has this pitch eased out compared to the first 2 days? Game has moved very slowly since

It looks like it. It is also 5th day and 108 overs bowled.....the likes of Thakur and Kulkarni must be "tired".

Vidarbha pace bowlers(Umesh, Yash Thakur and Thakare)  have taken 15 wickets in the match - Shardul Thakur and Kulkarni and Deshpande up till now 4 out of 15.

If Vidarbha can grind down the Mumbai bowlers for another session, after 40+ overs even the spinners can feel it.

Ball is turning sharply though so it can end in a hurry.

Iyer - who could supposedly bowl as per posts above - is already off the field. These are all limited overs players....

You begin to see why selectors put an emphasis on having gone through the domestic rigours, it's quite gruelling.

How much focus do they need, likes of Jayasuriya, dilshan, root ,Matthews are all better than them.

If they haven't been able to establish themselves then they haven't ruined it? That some logic you are using.
