In terms of attitude and conversion there is no one better than Iyer. He starts the acceleration much earlier than say KL R ahul or Kohli who take it to 40th over. He also converts starts much better than others. Look at  Samson. Played so many balls. He still  struggles to get going.

It's really not complicated, if you're going to pick batsmen in the top 5 for 50 over cricket you need them to have good basics and ability to rotate strike. We seem to think just coz soen hacks score quickly in ipl they can easily play ODIs which is never the case, unless they are only there are all rounders.
