Clutch Indian young players

Just an opinion from so far I have seen

 

1. Rishabh Pant - No comparison of him. Becomes 1.5x the player on big occasions or the time when team really needs him.

 

2. Rinku Singh - Very little in internationals so far but has shown very good composure every time I have seen him anywhere.

 

3. Pandya - Not a youngster anymore but 2022 ODI series decider in Eng, 3 Asia cup games vs Pakistan, WC 22 SF vs England.. has shown that he does have clutchness. 

 

4. Jurel - Showed signs in this game.

 

Sundar and Shardul notable mentions.

 

Need to see more of Yashaswi, Gill, Sarfaraz to judge them.

 

Agree with the names (minus Sarfaraz).

Gill often swings the pendulum from one extreme to other.

 

Sarfaraz looks fidgety/restless at times like Jadeja and I have my doubts, hope to be proven wrong.

He needs to lose weight. I had high hopes but his attitude and temperament is questionable.

He was supposed to be a great player of spin

So does Steve Smith. 

He is 4 innings into his career and has scored 2 50s. Time will tell but no reason whatsoever to write him off especially as he has been performing consistently well in first class cricket too. He may be heavily built but appeared to have good energy in the field and between wickets plus took a good catch running in and diving.

He has played 2 tests at home against an attack largely  made up of novice spinners. Promising for sure but to proclaim him as more dependable than Pant needs a much bigger and varied sample size. Shreyas Iyer looked a million bucks Vs spin when he debuted at home Vs NZ too and we all know how that turned out.

Jurel has just faced a 41 year old at the end of his career and a county bowler barely crossing 120k on slow pitches. Will have to see him in more pace friendly conditions to make a judgement

Thats true but even in india bro shreyas was very bad vs short ball. Even vs trundlers. 

 

So jurel passes that test. 

 

But litmus test will be vs sena in seaming or bouncy tracks. 

 

Would have loved to see him vs SA last time.

India needs good players against swing as well. Indians generally do well in Australia as the ball comes dead straight mostly. We struggle where the ball moves.

yes, this is the big issue. but both Eng and NZ tracks are flat now, although they will give us green tops (especially NZ)

Among youngsters Sai Sudarshan was clutch. Other youngsters have faltered. Not including Jitesh as as he is around 32.

Nope, before the ODI WC. You can't carry 2 semi-retired 40 year olds to the WC. How'll Kohli and Rohit keep themselves match fit and in form? They don't play domestic cricket, have retired from Tests and T20Is, and we barely play 4-5 ODIs in a year. I'm sorry but their time is up and Jaiswal and Sai are way ahead of Rohit and Kohli, and deserve their chance.

Arya was playing without any nerves unlike Prabhsimran. It's unfortunate that he was caught by Salt in that fashion. Had it been an Indian fielder it would've been a 6 and he would've been on his way to win the match. We need guys like Arya who play the same way irrespective of situation.

Jaiswal and one of Abhishek or Arya. Jaiswal has been the most consistent opener over the last 3 years with one of the highest SR. It's just that he has been let down by his middle order after setting up the match. Jaiswal deserves to be the opener across all 3 formats.
