Both his ODI and Test record since then in those conditions are testament to that. This part I agree. 8 hours ago, Nikhil_cric said: Sai Sudarshan should be groomed for 2027. Could have named anyone for but him. For South Africa.

That was three matches, including one easy chase. I think you have access to his stats against Hard Lengths. I also suspect his leg side power game which is just a basic requirement nowadays.

Sai has a good technique for a #3 batter and he is the best timer of the ball after Gill.

Where would you play him? And why would you settle for decent? We have Jaiswal for opening and Pant for middle among left handers. X factor players who have more well rounded game. That does not make hin bad, but again, why would you settle for decent? 3 minutes ago, Nikhil_cric said: For that matter Gill has weaknesses even now but makes the ODI side. What weaknesses?

Nikhil_cric Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 Pathirana's trajectory is like a left arm bowler's at times . Very difficult to track.
Adamant Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 7 hours ago, Nikhil_cric said: You see it as flawed because you are a disingenuous sycophant. Kohli after Southampton Test 2018 has played 19 Tests vs SENA in SENA. Averages 31.9 at a strike rate of 45. That's as mediocre as it gets. Cherrypicking random tours to suit your narrative seems to be the only thing you're good at. See this is what happens when you have no logic. We all know Kohli went through a bad phase. At that time he was not scoring in any format of the game, be it Odis t20s or tests. He has picked up scoring rate in other formats and topped our batting charts in SA on the last successful tour and everyone knows that he is good in Australian conditions. You are the one cherry-picking here, including only stats after 2018. Chakdephatte 1

Kohli only survived in the test squad due to his huge PR machinery. Kohli was not dropped because of his stellar record, Rahane and Pujara now avg 38 and 41, Kohli even aftwr the slump averages 49 and was our best batsman in the last SA tour.
putrevus Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 (edited) I see some morons still not getting over Kohli. Kohli was rightly backed by the team , even in his worst period , he was compable to the best period of guys like KL Rahul or Rohit. How many tours did Rohit miss again. If he does well in Australia, he can play till 40 , he is fit and should play more tests. Hope he has enough motivation . His legacy as best player of his era and GOAT whiteball batsman is set even if he does not play a single match. All he needs to do is enjoy his cricket. He carried Indian cricket for more than a decade without much help. Edited July 27, 2024 by putrevus

Pujara was also dropped in 2021 when he averaged 46 or so, that isn't big difference and both of them averaged nearly same in the last 3 years before Pujara was dropped. This isn't Kohli's fault but definitely his PR plays a role, if he wasn't a big star he would have got dropped too with Pujara.

The only carrying he did was carrying the arthi of our ICC tourneys hopes for more than a decade. Thanks to Bumrah for overcoming this panauti to finally get us a title as the "King" left no stone unturned in continuing to make India RCB of world cricket. We all saw how much he "carried" the team when Indian youngsters were able to beat Aus in Aus in 2020-21 when the "King" ran home. He hasn't carried shyte and was the anchor round our necks for more than a decade. Number, Norman, Adamant and 1 other 3 1

No it does not, Kohlis AWAY record is way superior to Pujara, it has nothing to do with PR
