We already had this conversation, Sachin rarely faced  great bowling attacks .if he did and scored he would  have cracked 900 Rating .

No he is not best test batsmen since Bradman nor he is best odi batsman.

We did have this convo and you are wrong. Sachin has faced most number of sub-24 average bowlers in history of cricket. That is an objective, provable fact. Logarithmic rating scales are not.

He is easily the best test batsman since the Don and the best ODI batsman after Viv.

Weren't you that guy who would usually pick players based on their batting positions while making an all time XI?

I don’t recall but I guess it would depend on the AT11 like if no particular period is accounted for which would increase the pool of players.

But in the 11 above, players are more or less where they are used to batting I.e. top order #1-3, middle order #4-7, and tail.

I don't think so, I told you then also facing one sub 24 avg in attack does not make the attack great.

Murali was Sub 24 bowler but SL was never a great bowling attack.Him facing Walsh in India in 1994  does not make WI bowling attack great.

No he is neither the best test batsman after Don nor he is best odi batsman after Viv.

You are empirically incorrect. Who said 'facing sub 24 avg attack'  ? There hasn't been any sub-24 average attack in the game, except maybe back in the 1800s or for a couple of years in the marshall-roberts-holding-garner period ( though Roberts may've snuck above 24 by then, not sure). I said he's faced the most # of sub-24 average bowlers in history of cricket. Which is an objective, empirical fact.

Sri Lanka of Murali-Vaas period is a better bowling attack than any bowling attack today not named Australia, South Africa or India. Same with Walsh-lead WI. The quality of bowling back then was significantly better, which is reflected in mean scores of the era.

He is quite easily the best test batsman after Don and that too is debatable, while his status as 2nd best after Viv is very secure, considering he is by far the best opener ever in the history of limited cricket.

There is no such thing as a matchwinning innings in test cricket. You cant win matches, if bowlers dont take 20 wickets. Not till 2005 ? Dude, bowling support was even worse after 2005, as Kumble declined and Zak is not as good as Srinath.

Check what he averages. When donald wasim plays. Also he only performed in aus when mcg dint play.

But yes he should be in atg 11 cause he is our best batsman.

Quality of bowling attack was never better. It was made to look better cause of no drs, no no ball umpires. Bounce rule at some stages and also poorer protection.

Batsmen had to play with fear as it was much easier to get hurt pre 90s.

Lol at murali vaas being better than kiwi attack or the English attack post 2020.

Sacchu sacchu best only

Kohli coolie best only

Sacchu is clearly better in tests because kohlis peak was too short lived.

In odi kohli is better than sacchu bacchu.

quality of bowling attack was waaay better. DRS doesnt just help the bowlers. It also helps the batsmen.

You think its LOL-worthy that the best spinner ever plus a pacer on par with Broad/better than Broad plus able support bowlers are worse than Anderson+broad+bunch of nobodies or a mediocre kiwi attack that is two good bowlers and bunch of nobodies.

Ganguly is the best left handed batsman India has produced.

Best chicker you mean? Chucker sorry.

He wouldn't be able to bowl? And then what will Sri Lankas do?

Bowl with trundler vaas who btw did well vs sacchu bacchu

Bunch of nobodies dismantled our fabled goat batting attack in nz back in late 90s. So does that mean our batting unit was trash?

Current nz attack in nz even without boulr would dmemolish most 90s batting units in those seaming conditions.

Like doull and crap ruined sacchu kucchu and all.

Drs lol. Lol so many wickets came of high length, well above waist and crap back them. So many rubbish decisions that favoured bowlers also constant overstepping like those west Indian quartet.

Not a chucker, is the most extensively tested and cleared bowler in history.

Current NZ bowling even with boult would struggle to be in the top 5 attacks of the 90s. Aus, Pak, RSA, SL are clearly better.

And batsmen were repreived due to lack of DRS for lbws as well. balances out. Please present evidence that the decisions were tilted in favour of bowlers instead of inventing nonsense.

No SL. No way. Vaas is a trundler. Nothing bowler. Just murali alone can't do anything

When india tour nz again you will see their new bowling attack. Sears and kyle will run circles around our batting.

Lol at overrated Pakistan attack of 90s.

If you are taking about the whole 90s era then we can have Jamieson boult Henry/Wagner

Southee will defecate on pak attack.

You clearly didnt watch cricket in the 90s is why you have such insane ideas. Vaas is a trundler ? Well he is a much better bowler than Broad. Murali + Vaas > england, nz, wi,pak,sl,bd of today.

Pak of 90s > anyone not named South Africa,Australia and India today.

Southee ? dude who bowls in the most friendly seam conditions and still cant average below 28 ? LMAO.

If Southie was a sri lankan, he'd be averaging 40+ with the ball.

Yea sure even chaminda's vaas mother wouldn't overrate him this much. Both lanka and pak bowling attacks are nothing compared to peak nz attack post 2015.

Wagner alone will bulldoze their batsmen. Pepper them with short balls and bamboozle their overrated hacks who can't score vs bounce.

Both Lanka and Pak attacks are far better than post 2015 NZ attack. Wagner = DNT Zoysa. Nothing more. But then again, you think that any trundler today is better than the greats of the 90s. LMAO.

Virender Sehwag

Gautam Gambhir

Rahul Dravid

Virat Kohli

VVS Laxman

Rishabh Pant(wkt)

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravichandran Ashwin /Anil Kumble

Zaheer Khan

Mohammad Shami

Jasprit Bumrah

Gambhir is picked ahead of Rohit because of need of left hander in that lineup and not much to seperate between them as test batsman.

Dravid, Sehwag and Laxman were arguably more impactful test bat than SRT post 2000. Virat Kohli is best test batsman of this millennium for India after Dravid.

Pacers pick themselves and so do the spinners although Kumble in 2000s was excellent on flatter decks.

Sehwag was a butcher. He could demoralize even the best of bowlers when he got going and reduce them into club level bowlers. The most entertaining indian batsman of this century inspite of this t20 era.

I would have Rohit in place of Gambhir because of more impactful innings and dominance against good bowlers at crease. He is so easy on eyes and so watchable. He is one of the best dominators of pace bowling.

Laxman was magical at the crease whether it was his wristy strokes on the leg side or the touch strokes on the off side. When in trouble Laxman would always rescue. I feel he is an under achiever for the amount of talent he had. He could have been among the greatest test batters.

Dravid was simply the best Indian test batsman of this century. His consistency, technique, grit and determination in the face of adversity are legendary. His overseas performances especially in SENA countries were phenomenal.

No question of leaving out Sachin as he is the best batsman india ever produced. His technique, strokeplay, ease of handling any bowler, ability to dominate, sheer number of runs scored, longetevity are unmatched. He was consistent both at home and away and in all conditions. The ease with which he played Murali and Warne at their peak, Ambrose, Wasim Akram, Waqar, Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee, McGrath, Donald, Pollock, Steyn etc was breathtaking.

Kohli hasn't faced even half as good bowlers in his era although wickets have been more difficult to bat on in tests. Kohli has struggled in overseas conditions and also against quality spin especially after 2019. So no Kohli in my team.

Pant is a good keeper after his initial struggle and the best test wicket keeper batsman India has ever produced. He has already played some great innings overseas to give india some fantastic wins. Dhoni is no match for Pant in tests in overseas conditions.

Jadeja has been great on indian pitches but overseas he has been as bad as Ashwin. But Ashwin is a much more skilled bowler and good batsman. So Ashwin at 7.

Kumble at 8.

Bumrah at 9

Shami at 10

Srinath at 11

My only problem for fielding this playing 11 is which batter do I leave out. I can not play both VVS Laxman and Virat without moving around the batting order to push Dravid to open. I am not convinced with Gambhir for such a team, and I would love to select Jaiswal as the left handed partner to Viru. What a combo that will be. Both can go nuts. But Jaiswal is too new and untested over a period of time under different conditions. This is why I will Probably include him in such a team after 3-5 years more.

Rohit or Gambhir have to partner Sehwag. Not really much to choose between them for stats but Rohit is definitely more talented. Rohit kind of got into test arena late. I will pick Rohit overall. Rohit has a better spread out career and better to watch.

Zaheer and Kumble can both hold the bat at 9 and provide good variety to the attack. Either left arm pace or leg spin. However this team can easily add another batter in form of Laxman at 6 to fit Virat at no.5, and India will have a very deep batting line up. Sachin and Viru are perfectly capable bowlers to bowl in any test match if needed. They can do a Root kind of role. In this situation India goes in with two spinners and two fast bowlers or just one spinner or 3 fast bowlers.

Kohli has left a very bad impression over the last 5 years and that is a long time. Since 2000 Laxman had only 2 years in which he averaged below 40 ( His retirement year and 2004). Plus Laxman would be way more reliable in the middle order compared to Virat. Excellent player of spin and stylish to watch. Very good slip catcher as well. I am fine with either of them at 5 but prefer Laxman.

Viru Sehwag

Rohit Sharma

Rahul Dravid

Sachin Tendulkar

VVS Laxman / Virat Kohli

Rishabh Pant

Ravi Jadeja

Ravi Ashwin

Anil Kumble/Zaheer Khan ( extra spinner or pacer)

Md Shami

J Bumrah

** Sachin plays. Can't fathom suggestions that Sachin does not play in such a team. Hell if he comes in to bat right now, he may not do worse compared to our middle order exploits this decade. :p:
