He doesn't have the "superstar" looks and doesn't play for the right franchise in IPL.

It is unfair to credit his looks for being considered next captain. Anyways I see the same trend in Cricket which I see in Bollywood, Punjabi faces like Kohli, Sharma, Gill and Bumrah are just more marketable. Edited November 3, 2024 by Vancouver Sandz 1

Not due to his Tests performances but due to him being pushed as the next "all format" star. He's being pushed in T20s as well when he's not that suited to it, and he pushed Abhishek to no. 3 in Zim despite Abhishek being an opener and he had scored a 40 ball 100 in the previous game. It's more than clear to see selectors are forcing certain players across all formats and are not fair to others. Rinku hasn't got a shot in ODIs and Tests despite his numbers being way better than SKY and others in those 2 formats. Jaiswal is yet to make his ODI debut despite being our best bat across formats. Sai Sudarshan is not able to find a spot in the team and Ruturaj is being pushed by CSK lobby despite Sai being a better batsman. Same thing with Samson being pushed by his backers despite Sai, Jaiswal and Rinku being better options in ODIs. New guy 1

figo6762 Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Bottom line guys .. we can argue as much as we can .. 1. players with good PR good marketability will be given the long rope. 2. Indian Team captain needs a brand . Earlier you are able establish it sooner you will become a captain . You just need to be an average performer 3. Results don’t matter , coz let’s face it the country is cricket crazy nothing that we bitch here is gonna change it. IPL will make money for several decades . 4. India will stop playing international cricket(esp Test cricket) soon for IPL tamasha .. if India loses next one day World Cup they will stop playing that as well . Number and Ultimate_Game 1 1
G_B_ Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 See if they are serious they will play ranji games and get groove back.Mostly they wont and I forsee a humiliating end for both in Aus..Sent from my SM-S928B using Tapatalk
Sandz Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 That’s genius level thinking by BCCI . No one could have thought that the Aus series could be the last for a few seniors. Hats off to them for such foresight. Almost as good as sending Siraj as night watchman. Ultimate_Game and express bowling 2

And that's exactly the reason India will always underachieve at intl level. They might win one or two ICC tourneys every decade due to luck but will never dominate like Aussies coz of the reasons you mentioned. When performances take a backseat and selections are based to appease sponsors, PR, media and IPL franchises, it's bound to show up in team's performances.

This is the culture of bling … there should be denial about it .. just embrace it .. cricket is a very profitable business in India and India diaspora across the world . ECB ,ACB understand this , they will gladly take the money when India is touring their home countries , make Virat kohli a cult legend build the series up just to cash in on Indian $’s .. While they struggle to keep cricket competitive in their domestic scene , they will bcci build the indian cricket bubble ..all bubbles need to pop up we just have to be patient .. this can’t last for long Ultimate_Game 1
