I was reading that they are trying to build backups in pace bowling under Jayasuriya and have given up on inconsistent Chameera. Theekshana Hasranga and maybe Wellalage (if he develops further) will work in T20 WC in India by 2026 & that wild card leggie Hemantha. They need to find one more credible middle order batter somehow coz Rajapaksa has regressed ever since he has entered his 30's. We saw in the ODI World Cup. Their bowlers don't work on Indian pitches. Especially their finger spinners. Jayawardene wanted them to play a lot more on flatter surfaces so that their bowlers can adapt But then again, Jayasuriya is proving to be a very good coach who is using the best analytics available to him to build white ball squads much like Darren Sammy is doing for Windies. And the improvements are easily noticeable.
Frustrated Posted November 9, 2024 Author Posted November 9, 2024 Lankan batters are executing rev.sweeps to perfection and getting boundaries easily. On the other hand, Ind batters get clean bowled while executing rev.sweeps. (With the ball missing the bat by almost 1 foot ) Particularly Jaiswal looks like a joker everytime he plays rev.sweep. rollingstoned, Ultimate_Game, Master_better and 2 others 1 1 3
Frustrated Posted November 9, 2024 Author Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) I think we need a lankan batter as batting consultant/mentor who can teach our batters how to play rev.sweep. LOL Edited November 9, 2024 by Frustrated

And we didn't see Asitha and Kumara in ODI WC I think. Nuwan Thushara is also decent T20 bowler. Theekshana Hasranga Hemantha are all T20 specialists. I see them beating likes of rebuilding Eng SA NZ easily on Paper in India if they arrive prepared. Edited November 9, 2024 by Lone Wolf Nikhil_cric 1
Lone Wolf Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Asalanka bats well on these tricky surfaces. Plays against the spin when needed. Glorious slog sweeper like all good Lankan batters Lord 1

Kumara was there but he was injured most of the time. Asitha wasn't SL are improving no doubt. It's evident in ODIs. So are Windies under Sammy. I think they'll both do well in South Africa. They play ok in bilaterals against weakened teams and people start jerking them off. Our bowlers completely outbowled every one of them in the T20 world cup, asia cup, ODI World cup.

Our bowlers only bowled well in 1 T20 WC which we ended up winning.
CoverDrive Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Way too many meaningless bilaterals going on around the world.

They defeated india as we played thrash and only NZ, rest were all minnows. It's not big deal to reach the last 4 when there is barely 4-5 strong team and India sucked. When it mattered in the semis their bowlers laid an egg and couldn't defend 177. In 2022, they lost against India and even zim. Their batsman then made 185 in the crucial match against SA and it was a DL rain affected match which SA lost. In the semis NZ just choked, they had 6 wickets left at the end of 20 overs.
Frustrated Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 2nd T20 underway. Looks like repeat telecast of 1st game. Same NZ batting. Same struggle. Typical minnow team. Only Team Ind can make them look like world beaters.
