Pant's approach was too defensive and he let go of too many hittable deliveries. He should've scored 60+ if he had played his natural game. But he couldn't due to all this forced criticism for MCG when Rohit and Kohli were the real culprits.

 

As for others, I didn't have much hope. We're playing with 2 batters - Jaiswal and Pant - and a newbie who has punched above his weight (Nitish). Other than these three there're no strokemakers in the side.

yeah, he could have easily made 60-65. likewise jadeja could have made 35-40 easily.

But regardless of all that, you HAVE to win the crucial moments if you want to win matches and not be an embarrassment. That crucial moment was the batting in the second innings.

as long as he would do better than Brat, that's all that matters - in a low scoring game, every run counts. Moreover, unlike Kohli, Sarfaraz does theoretically have the cut and ramp shot to play.

We won't know unless given a shot. Majority thought Nitish wouldn't do that well either but he was pretty solid for the most part. Kohli is a known failure and Sarfaraz (or Jurel) deserved to play in place of him.

Jurel yes. Sarfaraz I doubt. Seems more suited to flat or spin friendly decks. Also bit too high risk player
