England's middle-order batter Harry Brook has pulled out of the Indian Premier League 2025, citing the need to prepare for his commitments with the national team.

Brook was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 Crore in the mega auction in November. This is the second time in a row that Brook has pulled out of the IPL and now runs the risk of facing a ban from the competition.

According to a new rule introduced by the IPL, "Any player who registers in the player auction and after getting picked at the auction, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season, will get banned from participating in the tournament and player auction for 2 Seasons."

The rule exempts players being ruled out due to injuries or medical conditions. However, Brook in a statement put out on his social media accounts says, "It is a really important time for England cricket and I want to fully commit to preparing for the upcoming series. In order to do this, I need time to recharge after the busiest period in my career to date.

"I know not everyone will understand, and I don't expect them to, but I have to do what i believe is right, and playing for my country remains my priority and focus."

Last season, Brook pulled out of Delhi Capitals' campaign because of a bereavement and has featured in only one IPL season so far - in 2023 with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Think this is more of a tactical decision, already getting a lot negative comments from all over. Eng sees him as next big thing and may be white-ball captain.

ecb might have asked him to pull out, else a failure in ipl will attract criticism if they are looking to give him captaincy

Yeah huge 5 match test series against India then obviously Ashes in Australia.

England play a lot of test cricket & Brook is all format player for them so they need to handle him with care somewhat.
