putrevus Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 (edited) WTF, is this guy Rohit an idiot, Indian team is not his jagir, He was a below avg test player at best who always avoided playing in tough tours. Sad state that this guy became Indian test captain. Edited June 12, 2025 by putrevus

sage Posted June 13, 2025 Posted June 13, 2025 Bad decision by selectors. He deserved a farewell in England and his experience will be sorely missed

Prabhdeep Singh Posted June 14, 2025 Posted June 14, 2025 (edited) Geez a lot of hate for Rohit. He is not that bad. His downfall in Tests started from Sep 2024, his last 8 test matches were poor. That is it. From 2019 when he started opening until August 2024 he was India’s best Test batsman along with Pant, key for India reaching 2021 and 2023 WTC final. Even in his smallish Test career he achieved: >All of 12 Test 100’s in wins, some of these on very dodgy Indian wickets, to put in perspective: Test 100’s in wins for India: Sachin (20) Dravid (15) Kohli (14) Pujara (13) Rohit (12) >2nd most number of 6’s in Test cricket for India after V Sehwag, played a way fewer matches. >Averaged a respectable 40 in England and NZ, these are the sides India are touring in WTC 2025-2027 cycle. If he is going to play ODI cricket until 2027 then it made sense for him to keep playing Tests this cycle also otherwise there will be too many gaps to get in rhythm. I think he is going to get dropped from ODI’s as well due to this. >After failures he still averaged a respectable 40, have seen much more worse/awful players playing Tests around the world. >Surely there should have been some goodwill if he wanted to play Tests considering winning 2 ICC tournaments under his captaincy, I understand it is a team effort but no ICC tournaments were won from 2014-2023. Also scored a match winning 76 in CT final 2025 and was highest scorer for India in 2024 T20 WC campaign which India won. >From 2013 when he started to open in ODI’s he has been the best batsmen to watch if you are looking for flair, stroke making ability (great pull shots) and six hitting ability.
