Seems like issue is impeaching movement for that corrupt Judge Verma. BJP wanted to do it in LS. But opposition brought the movement in RS and Dhankar accepted it. 

 

Seems a rather petty reason for such abrupt sacking though

Petty or something is not the issue. LS is an elected body. Impeach procedure should come from an elected body that represents the people. RS is selected body. They have to also pass the impeach vote, but it is only ceremonial in our constitution as RS is not voted by people. If he was told to hold on for LS vote and still he didn't listen, shows a disconnect between VP and the government. Even earlier, VP was stepping out of the line when he was admonishing SS Chauhan on stage regarding some farmers issue. VPs are actually ceremonial posts and don't speak up much on Govt policy. He was turning rogue for the govt.

He was not a Sangh politician. a parallel hire who went to Congress and came to BJP in 2014 or so. So, naturally there is trust issues. 
IMO, VPs and Governors should be abolosihed as it is just a waste of expenditure.

The motion has to be passed by both houses anyway. So it is about who gets credit of the action. 

 

VP is indeed a ceremonial post but he actually went out of his way to support gov on many issues on his tenure. 

 

Off-topic : Learn that Judge Verma can enjoy pensions etc if he resigns before impeachment and if removed, he will just lose his naukri. No way can he be arrested for his corruption. Sad
