NZ's population is less than the first floor of my apartment block. They punch WAY above their weight in sports. :adore::adore:

P4P probably the greatest sporting nation of all time, alongside Australia. Per capita medals in Olympics, rugby, cricket, hockey, MMA, golf, motorsports, just the variety of sports where they shine.

Institutional strength due to a co-operative society + Good genes with meat filled diet+ Plenty of outdoor space + Sporting culture that is form of bonding.

RSA lead the H2H in ODIs against Australia. Always lose in WCs but overall damn, that's some flex, considering how serious teams were about ODI bilaterals in 90s and 00s.

In tests and ODIs, this is the only H2H where they trail.

In T20Is, we lead the H2H against them.

Very few better sights in white ball cricket than Marsh in full flow. Tonks in style !

What he is ugly, bats like wielding an axe.

That despite the Aus juggernaut team in the late 90s to mid 00s who used to sweep everyone Saf included. They won that tri series in 2001 after which Waugh had to resign captaincy which also had Nzl whose final Aus didn't make.

Hahahahaha ...SA management has decided to screw Lord Babuma here. Rested Ngidi on a patta when he was breathing fire. Mulder and that new kid are getting slaughtered and they lost the toss. Heaviest defeat coming up for Babuma.:hysterical:

Head proving that he is king of Tullas and Marsh too. FTB lucky bullies..aaathu.

NZ tour of Aus in 2001-02 was massive humiliation for Aussies.

First, the drawn 3 test series. If anything, NZ came closest to clinching that one.

Then the VB tri-series where Bond was an absolute terror. NZ beat Aussies 3/4 times (they barely won one at the end) and made the home team miss out from finals. I remember that tour well, before that had never seen Aussies struggle so much.

It's strange when you think about it, that team came close to losing both 2004 against India and the Nzl series at home. I remember the first test at Gabba they gave Nzl a target out of bravado bevause rain took away so much of the game and Cairns n co almost chased it. They had to bowl negatively to draw it. Fleming was trapping them with funky field sets like Stokes does now back then, used to get Martyn out with a peculiar third man/gully fielder and getting him out caught there with the cut shot.

Ofc they escaped narrowly not losing at Sydney.

RSA lead ODI H2H against Aus 57-51.

18-5 since 2015.

ODI bilaterals have been devalued since mid 2010s probably, but still to keep it that close when teams took it more seriously. Other teams including India were flattened by 90s/00s Aus.

Rickleton needs to be dropped if he doesn't score a 150 here. It's the flattest of the flattest pattas and his form has been awful.

This is why I believe India of 2013-23 was the greatest ever home side. WI, Aus had a few drawn series at home during their time, including scares (despite umpiring favoring them)....we crushed everyone and only in 2017 BGT, it looked like we could lose. 18 consecutive home series wins for us and W/L read 42/4, very few draws (most of them where our opponents escaped courtesy rain/bad light/smog, only 3 draws were earned). Don't see any team coming close to such dominance over such a long period of time.

What amazes me about Australia is low profile players emerging from nowhere, winning them a trophy and disappearing shortly after that.

Started with 1987 WC where Veletta, Simon O'Donnell came out of syllabus. That was the worst ever squad to win any ICC trophy IMO, 7th ranked and only ahead of SL/Zim. Them beating Imran's Pak in the SF in Lahore must rank as the greatest upset in the history of WCs.

Reiffel, Moody in 1999 WC. Bang average but broke Pak's back in the final.

Bichel suddenly emerged in 03 WC and won a couple of lost games for them against NZ, Eng....then embarrassed us later that year in TVS tri-series and disappeared.

Bracken, Tait had very short careers but matched McGrath in the 2007 WC, those 3 and Hogg were the 4 best bowlers that tournament and will go down as the most dominant campaign by any team in WCs.

Faulkner in 2015, MOTM in the final, where is he now?

Labu will probably never play another ODI for them, but he played a big hand in that Nov 19 final.

Axar gives me similar vibes, low profile guy who rises to the challenge in big games. Guys like Madan Lal, Munaf Patel in the past.

Naah man, Axar is way more talented than Madan Lal, Munaf etc.

ARs get underrated cause they aren't flash in particularly one skill.

He is prolly one of the best white ball spin bowling ARs ever. Good economical bowler plus can actually hit sixes (unlike Jadeja). Not bad at red ball too.

Only spin bowling AR better than him is Shakib I think.

Ashwin/Jadeja and later Axar were cheat codes.

Bonafide ATG bowlers at home and solid batsmen. Like playing with 13-14 players.

Such a dry cricket season this.

Only Ind-RSA test series in Dec and the Ashes are tasty. Then the T20 WC.

RSA isn't playing a single home test this season, NZ is playing WI (2 tests in FTP but now converted to 3) for mama to statpad.

Lots of 5 match T20 series for India against the good teams (although I think India is the best of the mall).

yes cant compete with 2 oldies, irrespective of how they have done so far.

Need to groom a pace AR to support Pandu, maybe Bawa. Apart from Kuldeep, all spin bowling should be done by batsmen

Pace AR is super important.

Can't play the 3 ARs route with 2 spin all rounders which we used in CT. And we need 3 ARs. The balance it provides is insane.

Pandya + Axar + Bawa/NKR?

Also Bumrah's partner. Shami is past it. Siraj maybe. HArshit has some batting ability so maybe give him a go.
