No i meant as a fan bringing up that knock after 10 years.. yeah she has a record but at a high level does it matter? there was no cup at the end of it. Thats how Aussies approach sport and thy are more successful than Indians are

Yes but without beating the record, if they manage to beat Eng today and Aus in the final then that would be one of the reasons that won them the WC. Then it makes sense for fans to hype that knock- do you see the difference? If they lose to Aus in final, even if she did beat harmans record, it would have meant nothing

That 171 still deserves hype. Because India put away defending champions. Also Australia had won 6 out of 7 games till the se final. Even in the final she delivered. India needed 38 runs in 44 balls with 7 wickets to win the world cup. We botched from there. Put it down to inexperience of some players. You can't hold that against Harmanpreet.

And youve proven my point as a Indian fan.. for you the bigger picture is hyping up a 171 which ultimately only got them to Finals.. cricket is a team sport so the failure of the whole team barring one person still gets the same outcome which in that case was a choke loss and no cup

 

Irony is if Kohli had made a 100 in WC23 final and we lost... fans would not stop going about that score but not seeing the bigger picture which was we lost the final- Maxwell's half disabled ton against Afg which got them to the final would be the best WC knock IMO in recent times

But that 171 did win the match so dont understand what your point is. What happened in the final has nothing to do with that 171. If that 171 was in a losing cause you might have a point. But winning knock which knocks the world champions out should be celebrated. That is independent from the choke in the final.

Dude.. you forget factors like toss, pitch manipulation by home team. There are many things in play. Australians would still celebrate maxwell's 201 even if they had not won the world cup. Australia appreciates great performances even in loss.  Miller's semi final knock was stil great knock. Result won't change the quality of an innings.  Result won't diminish the  ATG performance by SHamin in 3 world cups.  IN a one-off match many things can go wrong.

You need a team to win WC, while Maxwell knock was indeed great, Aussies still had to win semi final and finals.

 

Indian bowlers led by their ace were huffing and puffing defending 380 plus and failed to defend 245  in finals.

 

If Shami had not shown up in semis they would lost that semifinals too.Shami had a bad day in finals and that was the end of India bowling.
