No top side will pick these 2 in the same xi,at best you will need 1 anchor Both , and especially Jurel have good ability to accelerate. Anyway who are the alternatives. Pant isn't good enough in ODIs has had a few opportunities. KL we need to look past now. I think Jurel will be better than Jitesh though we could try Jitesh at at 7 or 8 as finisher

A good top 6 IMHO.. even to play Australia would be, Gill, Jaiswal, Sai, Iyer (c), Jurel, Hardik Jurel last two innings in the IPL were a 31 off 12 balls and 53 off 31: he can definitely accelerate Also Prabsimran is an opener so you would have him instead of Jaiswal?

Even in Indian conditions, we couldn't fit Ashwin in the side in the the 2023 World Cup. It was a complete waste of a spot. Selecting 3 spinners would again be terrible in SA because you would have to play a minimum of 3 pacers + Hardik in every match. And Washi is not among the top 2 white ball spinners in the country. I would only pick Kuldeep + Axar for 2027. Parag is probably the best middle order batsman in India and bowls both offbreaks and leggies and is a good enough 6th bowler. Banking on Hardik in ODI wc is pointless Edited October 6, 2025 by Vk1
vvvslaxman Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 India's biggest challenge will continue to be slotting batsmen in the line up as we have too many options for each spot. Hard to predict who will come good. Reddy surprisingly did very well in Australia against a must potent attack. But failed in easier batting conditions in England.

Sundar would not feature in a first choice 11 and especially in South Africa where as you say two spinners in Axar and Kuldeep will do. But ...at home and say if Axar was out he would be good back up in the squad or even one of three spinners at home. He gives good revs, and with his high arm action and bounce he can make a ODI wicket taker. Can be a power play option too Would also like to see Riyan feature soon. ODI should be his best format
vvvslaxman Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 India has 5 fifty partnerships in the last 5 years for 7th wicket or below s. 3 of them involving Deepak chahar. This guy had a great opportunity to elongate our batting and bowl 10 overs.

These youngsters especially the keeper ones if they entertain any thought of playing for national side will have to look beyond batting position, there are probably 8-9 guys who are capable openers even batting at near 200 SR But only few of them will be in scheme of things, Others will have to prepare themselves to bat at other positions as well

Infact his IPL started with lofted six over long off or extra cover He has power game + here he is playing bowlers who are at much lower level than his skill-level. Against faster bowlers he will need to develop off-side game
