bsriharsha Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 Check with your association. Shithzu are very popular in apartments. Maltese is an option too but those can be on the expensive side both in procurement as well as feed etc. It's probably better for people having allergies as it's a hypoallergenic breed. The smaller dogs don't really need too much of food though. As long as they are kept clean and fed on time. Temperament varies from dog to dog but Maltese are generally more energetic friendly and playful. Shitzu's tend to be more aloof and independent. Beagles are also an option but they require a lot of attention and exercise otherwise they tend to become difficult. Hard no on keeping anything larger than beagles in a small apartment. I've seen people keeping huskies , sheps and labs but they also make it a point to take the dogs out for walks twice a day for 1 hour in the morning and 45 min in the evening.

bsriharsha Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 The thing with having a dog is that you'll have to schedule your vacations etc around the dog. If it's a small trip , you can probably take the dog with you. But anything more than that requiring a train / flight trip and you'll be looking at pet housing etc. Are you willing to take the extra step ? Lot of pet owners don't really factor this info the equation and then find that their lifestyle requires too much of an investment. singhvivek141, Chaos and kepler37b 3
