lol what kind of stupid study is this??

It’s common sense.
A simple ChatGPT query for that same question gives this:

Short answer: Yes — chronically higher AQI (worse air quality) is associated with a higher cancer risk, especially lung cancer, and there’s growing evidence for links to a few other cancers as well.

1. Lung cancer —

very strong evidence

Fine particulate matter PM2.5 is classified as carcinogenic.

Maybe other diseases k!ll indians before catching lung cancer because annual lung cancer cases

In usa = 226k

India = 80k

China= 1000k

Or maybe pollution in india gives black lungs but not that many cancers.

Yes multiple factors could be playing a role such as:

1: whether they were correctly classifying it as lung cancer when detected late and when it’s already metastasized.

2: Other factors causing lung cancer such as cigarette smoking and the percentage of smokers among the general population.

3: And just pure data collection methods.
4: like u mentioned something else getting u sooner. Colon cancer etc.

I have one 2 paisa theory.

The vegetarian diet does not give you cancer on large scale as the meat-full diet. Inspite of higher adulteration in food, Indian cancer rates are low.

Yes many potential factors!!

1. Veg diet. Without diary i.e. vegan diet , cancer risk could be even lower.

2. Less alcohol.

3. Spices like haldi (turmeric) etc.

4. Climate.

I think Indian cancer rates have risen in past few decades. Probably plastic, pesticide, fertilizers etc. is the reason.

My uncle is 60. A veggie. He grew up with a muslim friend that consumed meat thrice a week. Both in same town and same environment. But he passed away at 58 due to colon cancer. Of course, the sample size n=1. But an important data point neverthless.

Cancer rates are rising due to aging society. It is very very rare to see a person, that is younger than 50, passing away with cancer.

Pollution. Watch lung cancer cases rise in the next couple of decades

Possible but it's pretty common to see younger than 50 passing away due to heart failures

This pollution thing depends so much on weather pattern of winters.

The thing is if there were 'serious and dedicated' people in the Govt who actually wanted to reduce health emergency facilitated by pollution then knowing the weather patterns, geography and topography of the regions and ALL contributing factors and then make a achievable roadplan to address these would be made. Right now the CM thinks AQI is a temperature measurement, Gov is busy throwing away international standards and wanting to make own syllabus- BJP is getting really complacent

Beijing has the same issues as dehi when it comes to the above but their Govs made sure by hook or crook they did everything possible to address the factors and now they have the cleanest air. Democracy in India will hinder this and it needs Gov to impose a 5 year Emergency to start clamping down on high poluuting factors. Once Delhi is free from winter choking, people will actually thank the Gov for the long term

Only a literal lockdown can control pollution and still weather will play it's part. It's not just about Delhi. The whole indo gangetic plain goes through same cycle every winter first due to stubble smoke in November and then later when fog develops.

Weather in Beijing hasn't changed, the geography is the same, but its the will of CCP to make a change that has benefited the citizens.

No one us asking stop pollution in 2 months, it took Beijing 10 years but so far Cent Gov and Delhi Gov dont seem to have a long term roadmap that isnt just soundbites but actual tangible actions.

1. Too much stubble burning

2. too much car/bus pollution

3. Too much uncontrolled construction dust

4. Too many polluting coal powered factories.

The causes of pollution are clear and known- why cant Gov do anything about these.

Beijing 2008 Olympics was a once in a century opportunity to clean up things in their capital, and they made full use of it, sacrificed a lot in the process.

For us, CWG in Delhi was just used to loot public money. And Ahmedabad CWG will be similar, and if we get Olympics hosting rights (Modi won't be around then), the plunder these *ing politicians, businessmen and babus will do will make East India Company look good.

India can never be China, we simply don't have the resolve or ambition to raise our standards.

It is upto the people of delhi to protest and drag the administration to road. Saying "we are busy in our lives saar " is a cowardly cop out.

The punjabi farmer must be heavily penalized. No idea how he can morally justify his activity that causes severe health hazards to millions of people.
