What ails Gill? He is unable to score in any of the formats, at any level. Why couldn't he kick on after the super successful Eng tour? Objectively speaking, in white ball, he has become gareebon ka Babar Azam. Pointless statpadding at low SR, milestone obsession and bigger failure in KOs.

Kohli also had a blockbuster series in 2014-15 BGT. Kicked on from there and had a super peak in all formats for the next 5-6 years. Gill is at a similar age now, but going backwards. For someone seen as the one who will carry the baton from Kohli, he has been extremely underwhelming. Even his captaincy has been poor, lack of fight, long term planning.....

I don't take his England performance lightly. It was an ATG series by any batter by any measure. He then got injured early against SA, so we don't know what could've been.  And coming back from an injury is never easy.

I am very hopeful that he will pull it together before the next red-ball challenge.

Having said that, what could he do when a Bhut is bowling to him?

Even before RSA, he was out of sorts in Australia ODI/T20I series. And I think more of a liability for us in Asia Cup, at least based on his scores.

Not downplaying his Eng heroics. Just disappointed that he hasn't found the next gear.

I think there's got to be an understanding that he is not a T20I player. ODI, I can't explain.

Odis he can construct innings take his time, infact it will help his red ball game as well

He did worked on his bottom hand game, like Kohli he too is bottom handed player but unlike Kohli his bottom hand isn't released while playing deliveries nipping in,always goes through motion while batting and leading, chases field while placing fielders etc

But he's too loose a batsman, isn't a rapid runner between wickets to compensate for tight overs if not hitting out bowlers

You cannot have too many lull departments in this age and survive,as I have already said he won't enjoy the star worship people enjoyed 10-15 years ago

Kohli was the last undisputed Superstar of Indian cricket, every other upcoming cricketer should keep this in mind, stay on your toes

9 very tough tests coming up, will test him as batsman and captain.

There is a real possibility of India losing their next 3 series as well

Away in Lanka, IMO they will be deadly on rank turners

Away in NZ LOL

Home BGT. If NZ, RSA can sweep us, even this old Aussie team will eye a series win.

They put too much pressure on him by handing him captaincy in important formats. Some players can wither under that pressure at a young age. Should have let him develop further
