Strangering Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Should happen regardless of current situation 1. No Indian market money should flow to Bhikharistanis. We shouldn't fund any of their "adventures". 2. Passively find ways to degrade their cricket in every way possible. Schedule another league such as MLC at the same time as PSL and pay more than PSL for non-IPL international players. IPL teams own a bunch of teams there anyway. Find ways to incentivise other boards to not schedule with padosis etc

Doing so would make PSL a 3rd grade 3rd option. Id even pull Pakistani top brass players to MLC. You know those greedy players would find a way to spin out for enough $s.

mishra Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Although we have to play but Sri Lankan Security should be prepared because some Pakistani terrorist may blow up during the match.

That's not going to happen unless the Indian government cuts off sporting relations. The BCCI is focused on money above all and the ICC likewise. So they will keep playing Pakistan and a share of those earnings will continue to sustain the pakistan cricket board. Talk is cheap but when push comes to shove they all follow the money including the Indian cricket establishment.

How is it focussed on money, what are they supposed to do with BCB and PCB in this case. You have all the rights, what would be your verdict.

Pull out of these fake Asia cup contests for starters. They are not ICC tournaments and the BCCI can easily just pull the plug on the whole thing. 3 manufactured India-Pak contests within one tournament was a purely artificially manufactured money focused initiative.

Why pull Asia cup , they are playing Asia cup since 1984, initially it was additional revenue stream for BCCI too but now it is revenue stream for smaller teams. Other than grouping India and Pakistan which has become norm is all tournaments, they did not do anything different. If SL or Bangladesh qualified for finals they would have played India in finals. SL has won Asia cup more than Pakistan in past. Edited February 10 by putrevus

The Asia cup is an artifical entity - it randomly oscillates between ODI and T20 formats based on the vibe of the day. It is purely an excuse to make money via manufactured India-Pak contests which are guaranteed to result in the same posturing that we saw this week. India don't need the money and no one needs the hassle of another psychodrama. Plus they are generally non contests anyway. If BCCI need to encourage the smaller asian members, it is much better done without involving Pakistan via the IPL and/or bilateral games with SL. AFG etc

Asia cup is where we had Mendis 6/12 with Indians not having any clue how to handle him.Indians did not even qualify for finals in 2022 which was in t20 format. Asia cup is 100 times better for other smallers team than picking one odd player in IPL. Edited February 10 by putrevus

There are smaller teams outside Asia who would also love a preparation tournament but they don't get any such opportunity. The Asia cup is product sold by the Asian cricket council which sells the broadcasting rights almost exclusively based on the India-Pak matches contained in the package. In other words the current model is based on two countries that are on the verge of war keeping on playing to fund Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Out of these Bangladesh just refused to even play in a tournament hosted by India. India owes them no consideration. It would be great if this tournament could happen without the constant psychodrama involved every time. It is simply not worth the aggravation for India to waste time on this farce of a tournament. Pakistan despte the humiliation have learnt that brinksmanship and blackmail does work when the other party is desperate to have you involved to shore up the value of the broadcast deals. There is no reason whatsover for India as the dominant member to keep operating this creaking model essentially for charity.

How is fault of Asia if other teams outside Asia don't get to play in Asia cup. It is like saying England does not get to play in Asian games. World cup is also based on India Pak matches. why is India playing world cup then. Why have world cup in the first place then just keep playing IPL.. Asia cup is/was just fine .India was host last time. India is not playing Pakistan in bilateral series which is their biggest money maker , you cannot stop other things.

The 'WC-a-year' model is running on fumes. White ball cricket is inevitably heading toward a football-style ecosystem: franchise leagues as the bread and butter, with one definitive World Cup every four years. At this rate, we’ll be there in five years, especially with the India-Pakistan shenanigans acting as a catalyst. I’d actually be happy to see the Asia Cup scrapped and Ind-Pak matches become a rarity again. You’re clearly a fan of the current overkill; I'm just ready for something more sustainable. That's all I have to say on the subject.
