They played in different era we don't want to compare them

Neither do I , but if push comes to shove. Bumrah is better than McGrath. The stats back it up. Look at the average / sr in tests

Meanwhile Cummins etc were resting/injured from the all important Ashes and didnt get any abuse

Bro, Australia has a sporting culture, we don't. Most Aussies are exposed to competitive sports from a young age, that too contact sports like rugby, AFL which are so bloody physical and injury prone. They understand injuries, how body heals/responds better than most Indians.

Here we expect miracles, as if a stress fracture or ACL tear is like viral fever, daktar saab dawa denge aur 1 hafte mein sab theek. Our people don't empathize with recuperating athletes because they have no idea what that person goes through. Not just Bumrah. Neeraj Chopra had a shoulder surgery few years back and stayed away from competitive action for a long time, I saw so many snarky comments about him on SM, vile stuff like fame has gone to his head...... Likewise mental issues, India mein yeh taboo topic hai, sab andar chipana padta hai. In so many ways, our society is primitive, we aren't conditioned to produce top athletes purely because of our backward mindset.

People who think McGrath would have done well in t20s should look at his economy rate in the limited T20 matches he has played

He retired in 2007. Doesn't count.

Just like talking about Sachin's T20 record. Had these legends played T20s in their prime, bawal machate yeh log.

No need to deride one legend to praise another. Most knowledgeable Aussie fans and experts rate Bumrah very highly. Likewise, it is a fact that McGrath too was a bonafide legend.

Okay fair point. Check averages in tests and ODIs then.

Keep in mind the average score in an odi when McGrath was bowling and an average score in an odi when bumrah is bowling

@New guy @vvvslaxman why stop at Cummins?

In the recent RSA tour to India, Rabada didn't play any of the tests. Others like Jansen stepped up and did the job.

No criticism towards Rabada from South African experts/fans. Only best wishes for recovery.

Those folks see far worse injuries in rugby, career-ending ones, or where recovery may take years. Hence they tend to be more patient and kind.

You have the right to your opinion, I respect that

But this is where I don't agree

McGrath with his bowling would be cannon fodder in the t20s and limited overs as they stand now.

In cross-era comparisons (in any sport), such sweeping comments can't go unquestioned.

I want Bumrah to also win Olympic Gold in LA. And WTC, ODI WC. His resume should be complete, and his younger team mates must ensure that happens, just like how they helped Sachin complete his WC dream in 2011. He has carried everyone on his shoulders for so long, thoda bahut return gift bhi toh banta hai.

Hazlewood has found success in T20s. McGrath is a superior version of Hazlewood.

There are good bowlers there are great bowlers then there is bumrah _ Steven Finn

The only bowlers who can be compared to Bumrah are Marshall and Steyn. Probably pre injury Waqar.

Watch broad podcast where they compare booms and Marshall and puts  booms above him

That's the level he is in right now.
