KV244 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 According to Harry Brook Bumrah is GOAT Bowler he is better than McGrath and Wasim Akram. Do you Agree with him. rollingstoned, singhvivek141 and New guy 3
bsriharsha Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Across all formats. A tentative yes. Some more years of him at this level and it would be a resounding yes. It's only him , Marshall , Steyn. McGrath and all come really later into the convo. BacktoCricaddict 1
bsriharsha Posted March 6 Posted March 6 At this point, his action keeps immense strain on his body and the longevity is the only main constraint. If he bowls at this level for another 2-3 years. And bcci don't overuse him in IPL.
bsriharsha Posted March 6 Posted March 6 McGrath with his bowling would be cannon fodder in the t20s and limited overs as they stand now. Even Steyn for that matter too nitinbwj 1
bsriharsha Posted March 6 Posted March 6 He's the last remaining star in international cricket. Mariyam 1
New guy Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Its a pity we have so less Bumrah praise threads and most of the time he is just criticized. He has delivered in another crucial match Faf about Bumrah.... "Team India don't understand how lucky they are to have him [Bumrah] in their ranks," du Plessis said on ESPNcricinfo's TimeOut show. "It is just proven time and time and time again, regardless of the format, you just give him the ball and he wins you games. It's a superpower that any captain will dream of; it's like having a genie, you just rub the lamp and out comes Bumrah." BacktoCricaddict, KV244, Stan AF and 5 others 6 2
Norman Posted March 6 Posted March 6 All he needs is an ODI World Cup. You can't topple McGrath (who won it thrice with handy contributions) without winning even one
zen Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) I think a peak Bumrah is a better “most conditions” bowler than a peak McGrath and a peak Akram (the two bowlers mentioned in the OP). Edited March 6 by zen Need4Speed and express bowling 2

Even Steyn for that matter too People make a lot of stupid comments on this forum. This one somehow manages to set itself apart McGrath had 100% control and accuracy over his bowling. He could drop the ball exactly where he wanted every single time. And he could swing or cut it either way in nearly every condition. McGrath would have been like Bumrah if he played in the T20 era. vvvslaxman Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) Most give credit to his workload management by BCCI. Especially pakistan ex stars. But we have people cribbing about it all the time about hsi workload management. Imagine the abuse he had to cop during Anderson Tendulkar trophy. He cannot go missing in any innings. @New guy Edited March 6 by vvvslaxman Gollum, New guy, Stan AF and 3 others 6

As if McGrath would have just bowled the same. He would not have trained different/bowled different. Marshall, Akram, Ambrose, McGrath.. all could do well in this era. Great players adapt and raise their game. Natural talent they already had. express bowling and Ultimate_Game 2
Gollum Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Funny how ROTW admires/respects Bumrah more than our own people. We are so lucky to have him in our setup. Unfortunately in India, batsmen are UCs, spinners are OBCs and fast bowlers Dalits. Champs like Bumrah, Shami should be top draws for endorsements, but they get overshadowed even by KL Rahul. Sachin, Kohli jitne bhi bade hai, Bumrah is much bigger than them. They themselves will admit to that. New guy 1
bsriharsha Posted March 6 Posted March 6 McGrath vs Bumrah stats. I really hate to be using this Check the differences in Average and SR across all formats.
bsriharsha Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Bumrah is bowling in a more batsman friendly era as well. Come on guys , give jasprit the credit he deserves singhvivek141 and Manucrick 2
Gollum Posted March 6 Posted March 6 You see how legends like McGrath and Wasim Akram speak about Bumrah. Game recognizes game. Then there were shameless ex-players from India who were casting aspersions when Bumrah was rested in England. Imagine doubting the integrity of someone as committed as him. I am usually not in favor of giving Bharat Ratna to cricketers, there is a huge backlog and other sports which have been neglected for long. But if there is one cricketer who deserves that honour, it is Bumrah. Ultimate_Game, cricspirit, bsriharsha and 1 other 2 2
