I am planning to get a EV. Please give me your take/experience on EV's in indian context. Especially the ICFers in India.

One of my friend is using an EV (Tata Nexon) for last 1 year x months. It gives him around 250 km at full charge. Strictly for the city/office ride or a trip to Airport. As per him it costs much cheaper than a petrol/diesel car. So far no issues and its been a great experience. Charges once on 4/5 days as he travels between Nallagandla and Raheja.

For charging he is dependent on either at his apartment, or at malls or onto office parking. If either of the place has parking then you wont have any issues. There is an app as well which will tell you how much your car is charged so that you can keep a track.

That seems less.

I purchased the Nexon EV in March 2022. At full charge it gave me 300+ kms.

Sport Mode in city?

In the near 2 years I had the car, I almost never used Sport Mode.

This is when you have your family or with a lone driver?

Sport mode help in quicker acceleration as well.

In cities, on the signals, economy mode accelerates gradually. Sport mode gives quick boost and car is ahead of the traffic coming in behind.

I have a manual one, so for me its all same. Clucth, gear shift and accelerate.

No EV experience in India but I would see them as specific use vehicles (not general purpose all rounders) due to

a) a relative lack of charging infrastructure

b) likely questionable EV technology - software/hardware mismatch for example

c) flood of negative reviews on EV in India such as stalling, inability to climb a steep incline, etc.

Get an EV IF it is to be used as a specific use vehicle like driving around the town.

There is ample charging infrastructure now in the cities.

Problem is in intercity drives. Or drives to resorts which are nestled in nature and you have to go for stretches of v poor quality roads with no charging support.

In non metro areas, is the charging infrastructure sufficient?

250-300 is the approximate range for punch and Nexon.

Most other EVs too infact.

Tiago is an older model EV. Won't make sense going in for that.

Unless you are using it as a car with a fixed commute per day.

Punch gives more lenience on that front.
