Kohli was the worst white-ball captain India has seen. Absolutely clueless about team composition, poor team selections, and consistently making the worst possible decision. You knew the team under him would implode in the knockout and couldn't handle pressure. Plus he didn't develop one single player and was known for making impulsive decisions and never backed players, and also never learned from his mistakes. He continued to go with top heavy teams with no balance and the tail starting at 6.

 

Rohit was heads and shoulders the better captain and we wouldn't have gone a decade without an ICC trophy had BCCI made Rohit the captain instead of Kohli. That decision is the reason for our struggles in white-ball cricket and becoming SA and RCB of world cricket in terms of choking.

Lot of time until then to break bangles about the possibility now. People thought Gill would be in the t20 wc xi but got dropped at the last minute. Who was responsible for it is anyone's guess depending on where you come from and which news reports you read.

Right place and right time is correct but does that not apply to Dhoni in 2007 who rode his luck then and then got exposed for next decade.

Dhoni was the worst thing to happen to Indian T20 cricket. Our drought from 09 to 16 is all on him, we even had 3 consecutive 1st round exits under his captaincy. Also we had no business losing the 2014 final, we don't talk enough about Dhoni's brainfades that day. And which mofo makes Rahane the flagship T20 opener in consecutive WCs?

But persisting with Gill was unfair on others. Jaiswal/Kishan could have been given more game time, Samson was needlessly shuffled and his form/confidence was shattered. It is good that things somehow fell in place in the T20 WC, but we can't keep tempting fate in such a fickle format. Also, because of accommodating Gill at the expense of Samson, the latter's career almost ended, imagine how big a loss that would have been for Indian cricket !!!!!

 

SKY won't work at the age of 38, so why not let a new captain take charge of the team and make his plan for the next 2.5 years? Also GG seems to have a beef with some players and that is clouding his judgement, Iyer in place of SKY, Jaiswal in ODIs, Sarfaraz in test MO, these are no-brainers.

Lot of time to 2028. From being dropped tp injuries. Many factors.

 

Let iyer win the ipl as captain. There is a good reason Thakur replaced Rahane as Mumbai ranji captain. Rahane spoke against making iyer captain.

 

Give iyer a t20 run as a player for sure.

Point is I don't expect Sky himself to be there in that team all things considered. I don't see the point in getting worked up about it now is all, these things are seldom if ever perfect where everyone is happy with every single pic and more often than not there are changes in the last minute.

I agree Dhoni IMO caused more harm than good as a captain.India should have atleast won one of those 2014 and 2016 world t20s.

 

But that is not the reality, there are morons who still think Dhoni was a great captain.Though the same morons want SKY out as captain 

 

If it was any other keeper batsman India was winning 2019 semifinals too.He was set and was leaving full tosses when ball was not doing anything.
