rollingstoned Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Impact sub has had an effect but what is the reason teams are cruising to 200+ chases without breaking much of a sweat and teams not even looking like taking wickets while defending them? It can't be bowling quality only and usually every year we see as the tournament goes on flat tracks become slower and chasing becomes more difficult but that has not happened so far and it is May already. I mean there is a thing to be said for fearless young Indian batsmen but something is not right when with all due respect some nobody 20 something domestic batsmen is hitting Bumrah for huge sixes like any galli mohalla bowler to finish a match. So what are the reasons not many new ball wickets are falling, spinners are not able to control the middle phase and it's virtually become a bat second and win tournament? Mariyam 1

tapandrun Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) 10-12 yrs back they started blaming the bat, the bats are too big and batter do not have to hit the middle of the bat to get 4/6s. Now bat sizes are reduced and now even more 6s are hit. Then they blamed that there are 2 new balls frm both end so a new rule has been made to bowling team chose 1 ball after 34th over with which they have to bowl remaining 16 over still 330+ runs are scored in Odis. And from 3-4 yrs they are saying that pitches are flat. Why its okay for bowlers to get external assistance from the pitches , why can not they spin or rather flat pitches, why can not pacer use seam. Why its okay to have green top pitches but dust bowls are frowned upon?? Its simple batters are getting stronger and better with their hitting technique and bowling has not evolved that fast. There are not many top quality bowlers in each side compare to top quality batters. The solution would be to Increase the boundary sizes to 73 m all-around and let 5 fielder outside the circle. In regards to IPL its a 74 game tournament, you will get some v.high scoring games and few v.low scoring games. 74 games in 12 places -- Will req.to create flat/good surfaces at the beginning and pitches will have natural wear and tear. Some teams have used their home ground to create spinning tracks to their advantages . Since 2021, the IPL has seen a massive surge in high-scoring games and successful chases. This is largely due to more aggressive batting strategies and the introduction of the Impact Player Rule in 2023, which allows teams to effectively lengthen their batting lineup. Yes bowlers are lagging behind, with fast evolving and changing T20/Odi cricket and they need external assistance frm pitches. Still the contest will be bat vs bat + conditions, no skills update from bowlers
MK55 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Pitches n pocket sized grounds. Even today, u lets these hacks play on fast spicy wickets with some seam movement, and they perish - embarrassingly.
