What is wrong with that?
A lot of times we Americans say - You called at the wrong time. I was gonna go shopping.

"We Americans"  :sherlock:

:wp14:

It's a redundancy.

I simply abhor, detest, loathe, dislike, abominate, despise and execrate any type of repetition.

'I'm going shopping' should suffice.

Would you say I'm coming to come home?

It's just like 'I'm going to bed' even though you are on the bed :dontknow:

Going to/gonna represents what you are about to do

'Going to go' vs 'going to bed'

Go is a verb

bed is a noun.

I suppose one could use bed as a verb too, but this is a family friendly forum after all.
