Have been posting t20i and odis are v.diff format. A batter with ability to score 20 ball 40 is v.v.good t20 batter but does not add anything to the odi side unless team is ready to carry that batter with no performance and 1 exceptional performance -- like maxwell.

Issue with tilak is ability or inability to score 4s  by pushing the ball into gaps , with rutu its mentality he is similar mold as that of kl/gill.

Can let go of this series for rutu as he was batting with verma and pointed this out its v,hard to play with players who get stuck and not score quickly, odi mo is about partnership and strike rotation and if some 1 is just blocking the only option left for other batter to do the hitting for himself and rutu is not that kind of batter.

The worry is verma will be found out in t20is as well in conditions where Ind lost few wkts and he is playing, teams would know he can not hit without really trying to hit and opp. can put him and other batter under-pressure

Tilak's batting in ODIs reminds me of Pak batters. He gets stuck just like them, can't rotate strike and playing a lot of dot balls. Even when he gets a 4 he negates it by playing dots of the the next 3-4 deliveries. Tilak's typical innings goes: ...1..4...1..2....1  Whereas what you're looking for is: 111.2141.111.41 type of innings where batters rotates the strike and keeps the scoreboard ticking.

The problem is that Tilak has played the same way even when he was given great starts and there was no pressure. Sooryavanshi and Arya have given explosive starts throughout and in the final Ind was 140 in 10 overs! And even then Tilak struggled despite no pressure and bowlers extremely defensive. He has just one way of playing whether the situation is 10/2, 80/1 or 150/1. You can't have such a player in ODIs as he doesn't just gets stuck himself but he sucks the momentum from his partner too and the team gets stuck.

Ruturaj's problem is he doesn't give you anything different. He's a poor man's KL Rahul and struggles to impose himself.Really wanted to see how Padikkal would play as he averages 81 in List A with 15 100s and 14 50s! That's an amazing conversion rate and shows that once he gets in he scores a big one and that's what you're looking for in ODIs. But he isn't here coz he isn't as good a T20 batter as Tilak. Our selectors are selecting ODIs and Tests based on performances in IPL. That's why Sai is playing Tests though his best format is ODIs and that's why Sarfaraz can't get in Tests coz he isn't a T20 batter. Same with Padikkal in ODIs.

yes thats why riding the wave of t20i wc win, should not select any t20 player who won the wc, Odi is diff format rotating strike is a major part of it , there have been many great hitter but they fail in Odis, great t20i team of wi never got better in Odis because it req. strike rotation and can not hit each ball in each game.

Selection has to be based on VHt and smat+ipl player who know how to construct an inning how to score a 90-110 ball ton and then carry-on, right now look for batters who have ipl sr of 145-155, they seems to have that controlled aggression game, Padikal nt sure if he is intnl material but he has the game. rutu has that game,Ankrish (kkr) has that game, parag, kushagrah these look like Odi players
