Everyone knew France and Spain were the top 2 favourites and they designed the draw in a way that one of them gets knocked out before final,they should have met there

You realize only and only reason this went to VAR is because yellow was given to wrong player, which is why they called the referee to check?

 

And once he saw that on screen he had no other option.

You don't use VAR for yellow unless it is so obvious. Many yellows were not yellows in the world cup. No VAR intervened. Harry Kane literally dived in the previous match. No VAR was intervened.  Using VAR for giving yellow for simulation in the middle of the field is extreme.  ARgentines were doing it all the time. At best a foul. SO it was very very harsh. Momenty the equalized this happens. THis has been the pattern right through the world cup. THat is why i am logging all the BS while happening in this thread.

Dude the wrong player was booked by mistake. Of course you use VAR for that

 

Did you even watch the match and the sequenceof events? VAR was not called for simultion, it was called because referee actually booked the wrong player and the VAR room called him to correct that.

 

When the referee saw the replay he saw 1) the wrong player was booked and 2) the foul was actually a blatant simulation.

 

At that point he had no choice but to correct it. He would never have called it on the field but once its obvious on the screen he had no choice.

I watched the entire match. Argentines were making so many fouls that were ignored.  100s of simulation happened all over the world cup lol NO VAR Intervened. I even raised this point before the incident during the match.

So  no you are pretending not to understand what happened despite me explaining.

 

The VAR check didnt happen because of simulation. It happened because the referee accidently booked the wrong  player. So he was called to VAR place to correct that

 

In none of the examples you gave was a player given a card, if they had, then it would have been reviewed.

Yes they were not given a card for a reason lol THat is the point. THey were also diving. Not given any card.  THis is like 3 matches in a row.  IN the first match Harry kane dived. Not given any yellow.  This is purely the inrepretation of referee when it comes to punishment. In this case extremely harsh. It is a freaking world cup quarter final. You take out a player for "simulation" which is not really impacting anything.  It is not even near penalty area.  IF they were consistently punishing all divers so many yellow cards would have been given.  Certain teams get the VAR coming into action at the right time for them. Argentina is one team.This is my observation.  We can dance around it all we want.

Even with var lack of consistency in decisions is a problem in football, it is largely left to referee discretion. Until now only red cards , fouls in the box went to var not yellows and simulation, playacting etc.

Yes. Selective increased use of VAR for random things at a critical time is definitely raises doubt about the credibility of FIFA. IT almost always goes against under dogs.
