express bowling Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) With injury worries and many players looking rusty .... Playing 11 .... 1. Gambhir ( captain, coach, mentor ) 2. Rahul ( chief sulker, vc, bc, ac, dc ) 3. Padikkal ( only fit mo batter left who can't keep or bowl ) 4. Pant. ( real estate king ) 5. Jadeja ( old, experienced, batter, bowler, fielder, catcher ) 6. Saransh Jain ( old youngster ) 7. Suthar 8. Nabi ( gift from heaven ) 9. Cool-dip 10. Morkel ( even now 15 kph quicker than Nabi ) 11. Siraj .... Lots of experience, especially with Gambhir and Morkel aided by Rahul and Jadeja. .... Lots of bits and pieces players, only 2 specialist batters, hardly any proper bowlers .... will make TM very happy. .... 7 bowling options .. quantity over quality any day. .... Great Nabi will pick all 20 wickets with his 122 k floaters and solve all problems. Dropped .... Jaiswal .... rusty, unwilling to bowl Gill .... injured Jurel .... punished because he can keep too Gurnoor .... his inclusion may make Nabi look poor Prasidh .... lots of people complaining about his big ears Edited August 8 by express bowling BacktoCricaddict, tweaker, Suhaan and 3 others 6

tweaker Posted August 9 Author Posted August 9 The selectors now face a tricky decision over Sudharsan’s replacement, with Sarfaraz Khan emerging as a strong option. However, according to the report, an important member of the coaching staff, as well as the selection committee, does not have much faith in him.
tweaker Posted August 9 Author Posted August 9 The Selection Committee has named Sarfaraz Khan as a replacement for Sai Sudharsan for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

I think they didn't wanted to select Sarfaraz, but the talks about Agarkar being removed from Selection committee may have played the role in the Selection. They may have known from the start that Sai may not be fit for the Srilanka series and Sarfaraz was obvious choice. They delayed as far as possible and also put name of Shaikh Rashid in the mix. express bowling 1

Suthar is bowling much better than Kuldeep. Getting more turn and bounce with better control. He is a much batsman too. If it is a toss up between the 2 for one slot then Suthar should get the nod. express bowling Posted August 10 Posted August 10 My preferred playing 11 ..... 1. Jaiswal 2. Rahul 3. Padikkal 4. Gill 5. Pant 6. Sarfraz 7. Jadeja 8. Suthar 9. Gurnoor 10. Kuldeep 11. Siraj ** Kuldeep spins the ball away from LHB. So off spinner not needed.

As per reports,it's toss up between Kuldeep and Suthar. Saransh may be preferred as he is right armers . Saransh may play at no 6 as allrounder.

tweaker Posted August 10 Author Posted August 10 Sarfaraz ' comeback India's meek surrender to South Africa at home set the alarm bells ringing. If sources are to be believed, the team management had, back then, enquired about Sarfaraz ahead of the second Test in Guwahati but the selection committee wasn't ready to have him back in the fold. The national selection committee had three options -- Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has a first-class career average in mid 40s, greenhorn Shaikh Rasheed who is more of a No. 3. The third and most logical option had to be Sarfaraz, who is probably the best player of spin bowling apart from skipper Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant in this current set-up.
tweaker Posted August 10 Author Posted August 10 Sarfaraz vs Jurel Dhruv Jurel not really coming good against spinners for some time now , one can't be sure that he will play as a pure batter in 1st test. It is now well documented that Jurel has problems playing off-spinners. South Africa's Simon Harmer got him thrice in four innings during the series against the Proteas. In the practice game , he was out cheaply defending against an off-spinner. Sarfaraz has better range of strokes, including the conventional and reverse sweep, which he can play in-front and behind the square. express bowling 1
