Kumar Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 lol..... hope karthick plays well during the series ....... but dhoni has the ability in the future to become a good test player with an average from 37 to 45 id say
DomainK Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Great catch by Karthick for 1st dismmisal. Keeping very well. Natural keeper:-D The smell of blood brings the count out of the coffin.:D
Ram Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Dsr's future threads.. 'Karthik has got up from his bed'. 'Karthik has brushed his teeth' 'Karthik has showered' 'Karthik has put on his clothes' 'Karthik has started his car'. 'Karthik has reached the ground' . . . . 'Karthik has switched off the lights' 'Karthik has gone to sleep' Soooo... As Dsr was saying, Karthik is exactly what the team needs. :D Dhoni is a better keeper than Dinesh Karthik, Parthiv Patel, Deep Dasgupta, Saba Karim, MSK Prasad, Sameer Dighe all put together. I would dearly dearly want him back, into the team. Karthik's only hope is either of Gambhir or Sehwag fail again and he gets another shot at opening.
nospam Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 ek yuvraj kafi nahi tha ab ke ek naya karthick aggya
veer Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 abe oye channee.. ja jaake ghode kha... did u ever play cricket...i dont sit around on my ass all on a chair sipping a chai like you...abe o mote prani' date= i play as a main strike fast bowler and played more cricket than you can ever think of... you golgappa people jus keep crying over those unfit past players who never won us any matches.. Dhoni is 100 times better than Mongia... :haha::haha: are you ok?
King Tendulkar Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 Dhoni is a better keeper than Dinesh Karthik, Parthiv Patel, Deep Dasgupta, Saba Karim, MSK Prasad, Sameer Dighe all put together. Karthick is a top keeper, a natuarl and will show it. Beware! You guys know I am a good judge of a player and often get it spot on. Note how I backed Gambhir for a couple of years as you guys slaughtered him. Karthicks footwork while keeping is superb and a joy to watch. He got messed around by having to be a fielder. Give him a run with the gloves and he will show his class. He is a natural keeper.
coffee_rules Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Glovework being the same, Dhoni brings a lot to the team in terms of batting. We owe the series triumph in Eng to Dhoni for saving the match at Lords. Dhoni's valuie in the team is more than Karthick's. Simple math.
King Tendulkar Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 Karthick out batted Dhoni in england. His opening batting was a much bigger reason for our test series victory then Dhonis shoody batting. Not to mention he kept horribly on that tour having a competition with Prior for crappiest glovework. Dhoni did not get 1 test 50 in tour of oz, exactly what value did that bring? p.s I am ready for the usual flood of excuses of how difficult it is to keep in england blah blah. Never saw Stewart or Gilly struggling to keep in england!

For all your 'player predictions' , your credibility just went out of the window, when you started a thread praising Karthik for a 50 in a tour match. Pretty sure you have no specific inclination to Karthik or anything. Its essentially anyone who can be Dhoni's replacement. Wont be surprised if tomorrow, you hail Parthiv as the world's best keeper ever! :D
beetle Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 It was a great catch! For someone who is out of eal match practice, that was a wonderful catch!
King Tendulkar Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 For all your 'player predictions' ' date=' your credibility just went out of the window, when you started a thread praising Karthik for a [i']50 in a tour match. Pretty sure you have no specific inclination to Karthik or anything. Its essentially anyone who can be Dhoni's replacement. Wont be surprised if tomorrow, you hail Parthiv as the world's best keeper ever! :D Praised him for a 50! Yes I did whats wrong with that. He has scored test runs before as well. I rate Karthick higlhy. I really rate his glove work, he will have no problems in this department. I contrary to others am just concerned whether he will score volume of runs required at 7 but I believe he will and fill that gap we have been missing! Your credibilty went out of the window when in another thread you said Macgill was the 2nd best leg spinner of his generation after Warne! Ever heard of Kumble? Still waiting for a response from you on this:--D
Kumar Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Kathick is a good player, but really should he be praised that much? we see you praise karthick more than any other person lately. he is good but no need to keep braggin on about him:D

Dare to open a poll asking this question to all posters?
Ram Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 A poll would result in the most popular guy being chosen. Not necessarily the best. Question: Who is a better keeper? Dhoni or Karthik? Now, isnt that clear enough? where does the popularity of the player even come into the question?
Ram Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Because you suggested a poll would settle the issue. I think it wouldn't. A poll would throw up the most popular guy as the winner. He might not actually be the best for the job. I think thats a big insult on the cricketing intellect of an average fan. There are plenty of knowledgable souls around here, who have the ability to separate the facts and fiction.
punjabi_khota Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Fair comment. Polls on these message boards can never conclusively determine questions like above. Remember Sehwag Vs Bradman. :giggle:
fineleg Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I'm a recent critic of MSD for not giving Tests higher priority even if he needs to skip IPL. But as far as better in keeping+batting combo results, MSD >> KKD. MSD is a very good find, he just needs to stop obsessing abt $, he'll earn lots anyway. But, MSD is much better in terms of cricket skills.

satishg Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Can you tell us the breakup of that combo ? I feel KKD is a better test batsman. And maybe' date= he has improved his keeping ? KKD has a better technique than MSD but then that alone doesn make him a better batter than Dhoni..Dhoni applies himself even wen he is not at his best and he is constantly improving batting wise..like the time he saved us in Lords last year and then the imp partnership with VVS at perth in the second innings..and he can get runs quickly as well..So Dhoni with his limited technique has been really good..
