B'lore pitch

Your thoughts and reactions? I thought t’was a touch too slow. Most of Ishant’s bouncers didn’t even reach Dhoni and couple of Katich's edges fell well short of slips. And to make it worse, it isn’t the typical dusty, grippy surface that is gonna turn massively either. So, neither is there too much encouragement for the faster bowlers, nor is there lots of assistance for the spinners either. The Aussie batsman had quite a lot of time to play the spinners. The good news then is, it will back breaking work for the Aussie pacers on this pitch, especially on days 2 and 3. There isnt too much of sideways movement either for the pacers, and they have no specialist spinner. The bad news is, it may break up dramatically in the last innings, which makes it imperative for us to restrict the Aussies to a manageable total in the 1st innings and establish some sort of lead, going into the 2nd innings .There was already some variable bounce for Ishant and the Aussie quicker bowlers would have liked what they saw.

India has to gain an unassailable lead in our first innings. There is no way our Fab 4 can save the test match if we have to chase a target of around 250-300. I will expect a collapse as Aussie fielders will choke all the singles and put our seniors under pressure. We have to wipe out aussies under 325 in 1st innings and score around 400-450 when we bat.

I would dearly love to see some more pace and bounce in Indian pitches. The sight of a 140 kmph bouncer, bowled by a 6'5 bowler barely managing to reach the keeper is truly depressing. My worry is also about Stuart Clarke. The combination of low bounce and his nagging accuracy can have many of our batsman either bowled or lbw. The pitch is also offering some low bounce and his style of bowling is best suited for these types of conditions. He could potentially pose a significant threat.

Crap pitch. Minimal bounce, no movement and zero carry. These conditions don't suit Indian seamers or spinners. Funnily enough, when Australia bowl they will probably find it easier since they have two seamers who are quick through the air (Lee and Johnson) and they can get wickets with extra pace.

the pitch will be at its best tom and during day 3..so we shd bundle out the aussies asap and bat for long..anyway the pitch is already offering some variable bounce..so Bret and Clarke will be dangerous in the 4th innings on such a pitch..hope v are not made to chase a lot of runs.. Ishant and Zaheer were brilliant in the morning but for all their efforts v just got 1 wicket..the curators must be told to add some pace and bounce in the wickets..its heart-breaking to see our fast bowlers bend their back and bowl brilliantly and get zero reward..as Sriram pointed out some of Ishants bouncers did not even reach Dhoni..poor Ishant

umpire, Not necessarily. Folks like VVS, SRT, Sehwag, Gambhir all like to play when 'ball comes onto bat nicely' as tendu would put it. They struggle on slowish, sluggish pitches. Dravid will defend endlessly, but thats not all that useful either since he is out of form.

Too slow' date=' although I do hope it starts to open up and turn. The quick bowlers' efforts on such a track wasn't rewarded - Zaheer and Ishant were excellent with the new ball, but the pitch just didn't offer anything.[/quote'] yeh that sucked Ishant bowling to Ponting must've been bringing back memories, he really deserved that wicket, its a shame it never came

Test pitches in India & Pak suck, period! I would rather watch the same test matches being played somewhere outside. At least there is a fair contest between bat and ball. Lately its such a pain to watch test matches at home, even SL pitches were better this time for a change. The Indian curators seem to be a bunch of morons as well. When a sporting wicket is requested, they seem to create a seaming cow pasture like wicket!! What we need is a bouncier wicket if that's something that can be created. If not the traditional turners on which Indian spinners can thrive upon. This slow low bounce garbage is such a drag!

Remember the last test match that was played at Bangalore? India delayed the declaration against Pakistan and what could have been another test win against Pakistan was lost due to short of time and lack of light on the last day. This pitch is no different, the ball will keep very low on the last day and India will need to keep Australia under 350 to have any chance in this test match.

It shouldn't be keeping low consistantly on any first day pitch. It happened about 10 times yesterday and that is from only half the overs from fast bowlers. When the aussies bowl they will probably have a ratio of 70 overs fast and 20 spin so I would assume more balls will keep low throughout india's innings.
