Desi Cartman
For how much longer is Mr.Rahul Sharad Dravid going mortgage our test prospects with failure after failure at the crucial no.3 position? How much more can we take? More importantly, how much can he take? He's an awesome cricketer, but before that, he's a fine Gentleman and that very same gentleman in him will now be telling him that he isnt doing his team any favors with his batting form. Lord
Lots of PC posts here. Just throw the ******* out. its not PC ,its called respect that dravid commands.i think we should have had him at no.5.no need to drop him Link to comment
The Outsider
Either play him at 5 or drop him......can't be two down as soon as we lose our first wicket. Link to comment
satishg
need tough decisions..Dravids form in the slip has been even more alarming..the one who used to pluck every single ball that passed along his direction has been dropping catches and that too sitters pretty consistently now..that shows the frame of mind Dravid is in..he is not confident of himself rite now..he doesn know wat he needs to do to get back in form..there is no other go but we have to drop him..otherwise he will get a 40 in the next innings and then stay for the next match where he wud fail again.. but since MSD is the captain now i think we can expect a big decision in the next match if dravid fails again.. Guest Hiten.
haha' date=' celebrating folks are here for dravid getting out. burst some firecrackers now zuby and khota and call him a sh.t while you are at it.[/quote'] Dude please shut the *** up. You had pages and pages of post criticizing SRT just because he could not bat alongside the tailenders, did you forget that ? I am quite curious to see your 'patience' with RD when he is clearly in pi ss poor form of his life and does not seem to comeback anytime soon. Link to comment
SachDan
more you watch that dismissal,it gives the impression end is nigh for Dravid. That looked like a very innocous delivery from Swann which Dravid would have easily tapped in to fineleg region for a single couple of years back. Here he was caught in no man's land with his uncertain feet movement. Brainfade
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/indveng/content/current/story/381867.html - good article on this topic. Good article. The 2nd innings of this match may (should) be his last one. It would be great if we have a 200+ target, he comes in at 32/3 and he and SRT knock off the winning runs. He could be 89 n.o. off 235 balls, and retire in glory after a quintessential Dravid knock. Link to comment
satishg
he is living by the edge now..each innings is pushing him even further..unless and until he produces 2 great innings in the 3 innings that he has i cant see how he wud be in the team..this could well be his last series.. Predator_05
He hasn't been in great form, but he hasn't been helped by all these tough umpiring decisions either. He got another harsh one yesterday. He has gotten a fair few since that South African tour. He is definitely past it though...an average of 30 in 26 tests is awful no matter how you look at it. Even when he looked in good touch (like he did in SL) he still failed to convert his starts. If he doesn't do anything in this series, he should be dropped...India can't afford to play someone so badly out of form at a key batting position. His poor form hasn't cost India yet because Sehwag and GG have been run machines at the top, but that can change in the future... Shame to see RSD fail again. Although I am curious about one thing - if fineleg is calling him a better test batsman than Tendulkar, could fineleg also provide evidence of Tendulkar having extended slumps in form that match Dravid's almost-2-year slump? Truly great batsmen mark themselves by consistency. This is one reason why IMO history will mark Tendulkar as a superior to Lara, not just for longevity but for a greater consistency over time - Lara's highs may have been a bit more dazzling and memorable, but his lows were far more frequent and lower. Bradman, Richards, Sobers, SRT have rarely had periods without runs. Have Tendulkar, or even Gavaskar, gone through periods such as what Dravid is currently in? This isn't Dravid's first big slump either. Remember him going 17 innings without a 50 back in '99 ? Not surprisingly, that was also the period when he faced the best bowling attacks of the 1990's - Australia in Australia and South Africa at home in India. Tendulkar on the other hand, destroyed both of these bowling attacks with some sensational batting - winning man of the series down under as the Aussie drooled over him and then playing an absolute cracker jack of an innings in the Wankhede test against SA which singlehandedly kept India alive in the match. There was also a difference of night and day in their performances against another strong bowling attack, Pakistan. Anyway, this is a stupid comparison because they are both fine Indian cricketers and this whole thing is a waste of time. Only numbnuts who know nothing about cricket would take this up so passionately. Link to comment
coffee_rules
He sucks the confidence out of our lineup like one of those weirdos employed bt Voldemort. His poor form hasn't cost India yet because Sehwag and GG have been run machines at the top' date=' but that can change in the future...[/quote'] Agree, this is key. We've got away with it because earlier we've normally lost our first wicket after a good start, so Dravid coming in, sucking momentum away and getting out just puts us to 100-ish/2 usually. On occasions like this when the openers fail and he does nothing, it makes it even worse. The selectors seriously need to look at Pujara or Rahane. Rahane's making lots of runs at 3 for Bombay, and Pujara's got the technique/temperament to bat there and is making tons of runs right now. (And even if it's at 4, 3's not that big a move - especially for a guy who has opened before and has a very solid technique.) Link to comment
