Ram
Just the concept of ranking batsman from different eras in the same list itself is so ludicrous. Whoever decided to do this ranking had obviously completely run out of things to do in his life. Link to comment
h4te
is this some kind of a joke? has ICC hired finey? Link to comment
90mph
The best ever ratings means the best performance within a certain period of time. I remember well even Brendon Kuruppu (SL openning batter) who scored a twin hundred on his debut was once ranked above Lara and Sachin at that time. The best ever ratings however reflects more about a player as to how good he was when he was at his level best Link to comment

The Outsider
These rankings are just the peaks reached by a batsman. Link to comment
f.b.m
Great. We have Sangakkarra on par with Viv Richards and Mohammad Yousuf being better than Gavaskar, Lara, Tendulkar, etc. btw, These are just batsmen having particularly good runs of form. Nothing more. Link to comment
Desi Cartman
KP is better than Chanderpaul and SRT :hysterical: Link to comment
fineleg
is this some kind of a joke? has ICC hired finey? No. And, while these rankings dont mean anything at all, you'll be well served to remember that greats like Don Bradman and Viv Richards may atleast excel over SRT - I agree we should not compare across generations, so lets not try that. Ofcourse this list is weird. But expecting SRT to be crowned as the #1 ever in the world is OTT as well. Link to comment

I don't understand this at all. Whatever suits you though. He's decimated attacks all over the world. I think he would make at least compete (although I believe he is) to be the best. Its not over the top at all. Link to comment

I agree its difficult to compare across the era - Bradman vs Richards vs Gavaskar vs SRT Lara etc. He is one of the best cricketers we have produced, and history has seen other great ones as well. factual
It just shows what I've been saying for years tendulkar may be a good batsmen but he has never won a match or series off his own bat and when the chips are down he is never the one to get india out of the rut. Typical front runner. Link to comment

Lord
Tell me who did? exactly! bowlers win test matches, not batsmen, sanga for examples averages highs in wins but they have all(well most anyway) been at home.and he had a monster in murali to take wickets n win matches. cant believe people like sanga, hussey, hayden ,pietersen are ahead of SRT. Gambit
Anyone who whines about this is an ignoramus. The ICC(previously devised by PWC) system has been there for ages and the batsmen here are simply sorted by career best rankings. Nothing more. It's like sorting batsmen by their highest individual scores. SRT has never been one to have tremendous peaks(which is what is being mentioned here) followed by absymal troughs. He's been consistently excellent. Link to comment

DomainK
@Gambit: So why are they calling it a ranking of the "best ever"? It should be called a list of players sorted in order of highest point totals. In what sense does it show the best ever? Link to comment
