Ram Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Woke up today morning, opened the laptop and typed in the Youtube URL of one of fav. songs as I had my breakfast. As I expectantly waited to for the song to begin, all I could hear was pin-drop silence. Checked the video volume - Was a'right. Stil no sound. Realized something was wrong and tried opening an audio file using WMP - got an error message. Tried same using real player - Error message. Then realized that the audio icon on my tray had gone completely missing. Looks like somehow, all the audio drivers have been uninstalled in my laptop (no idea when...) Can someone point out as to how I can install all the audio drivers again? I have Windows XP Home edition (genuine copy..) P.S: I am not too good at this s/w stuff, or else I would tried to figure it out by myself.. (

Go to that manufacter's website and download the driversl You can then Add hardware and install the drivers for the added hardware (audio device).

Zap_Brannigan Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Add hardware. It will scan for anyhardware changes automatically and look for drivers online if u specify it. Since its a latop, all the drivers will also be available on the manufactures website. Atleast thats how it is for mine. Sometime this has happened to me. But a restart would correct it. The only time restart didnt help was when the audio card went kaput on my PC. I had to put a new one in.
Ram Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Thanks for the tips. But, I solved it by myself. Just restored the OS to an earlier date. And Bingo, everything's back to normal.. :yay: I am stumped, my laptop was working fine till last night, so I did the first system restore to two days ago. Nothing happened. Then, I restored it to 10 days ago, and it worked. :hmmmm2:

On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager. In that can you please expand sound video and game controllers, and please post a screenshot of that.
